Fresh pine and citrus hops meet roasted malts. We think it’s all the things a Black IPA should be.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Hoppy smell with some dark malts, grapefruit, chocolate and some coffee. Roasted and toasted smell but there is also a hop aroma that moves towards pine and grapefruit. Nice mix between the dark malts and the hops.

Aroma is moderate malts with a spray of citrusfruits together with a dark and a slight pine wood sensation. The taste is at first medium sweet before the pineoil kicks in and together with a orange/citrus freshness this turns out to be quite delish. The aftertaste is slightly dry and bordering towards a smokey experience. It doesn’t tip over however and stays in the rustic Scandinavian wood area and sends memories from long walks in a shadowy pine forest on a late summer day

Bottle. Opaque black brown beer with a large beige head. Aroma is spicy with notes of roasted barley, spices, citrus, licorice, soy sauce and wood. Flavor is fruity with notes of caramel, herbs, citrus, pine needles, oranges and peaches. A bit too roasty for my liking.

Skummigt svart med ihållande tunt orangefärgat skum. Doftar lite stickig kåda med toner av lakrits. Smaken direkt ihållande lite entonigt beskt bitter. Friskt kolsyrad. Mer intressant än god.

Bottle, trade with Nisse666, thanks! Black, off-white head. Real nice cascadian pine hoppy green citrus initial impression. Soft roasty dry chocolate coming through Roasty, slight ashy, salty licorice. Bitter, green hops. i’m liking this. sort of rustic, nice really hop-heavy drink. Feels like its gone through a randall.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a beige head. Nose is a little greasy, not the freshest hop presence. Medium body, some dark roast and chocolate before a solid dose of hops leaving a bitter finish. Would’ve loved some more aromatic hops here atop the nice malt bill. 031214
