Towering greige head, slowly collapsing over near-black opaque red-brown beer. End of bottle solid yeast. Ultra-dry hopsí nose, dry hopbales, Hessian sacks, but definitely appetizing. Hint at astringency, already in the nose. Again ultra-dry-bitter-hoppy, with an outspoken bitter-metallic finish, long lasting. Hint at liquorice without sweetness quinine. Warming up, roasted barley. Chewy, very slick to viscous, without being really full-bodied. Hopbitter overdose. Pity.

330ml bottle. Black colour with huge, firm, frothy to creamy, fully lasting, superbly lacing, tan head. Roasty dark malty aroma, slightly citrusy and piney hoppy overtones with hints of herbs and grass, a peppery touch. Taste is roasty dark malty, a touch of coffee, mild bitter and slightly citrusy hoppy overtones with herbal and grassy touch, cautious hints of pine, a pepper touch.

Bottle @ home. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, big fruity and earthy hops, slight caramel. Nice. Flavour is quite bitter of roast, some fruity bitter hop notes, liquorice. Long lingering roasty bitterness. Too much for the body imho, but still a nice beer.

Almost opaque dark brown - black beer. Small pale tan head. Light fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts with light touches of dark chocolate and coffee. Nice balanced hops - mellow pine, a little citrus and a pinch of hops spice. A little dark malt cream develops before the semi dry finish then a brief flash of tropical fruits. Tasty and well balanced black IPA. Lots going on and very drinkable.

Bottle @ home. Opaque black color, full sized creamy light brown head that lasts for a long time and leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma is malts, hops, fruityness, mango, pine, pineapple, tropical fruits, slightly melon and peach. I miss roastyness, itís lovely, but I want roastyness mixed with hoppyness in a Black IPA. Nevertheless, lovely aroma. Taste is malts, lots of hops, perfect bitterness, nicely fruity. Oh a lovely lovely beer, but imo this is not a blavk IPA, because it doesnít have enough roasted malts. The thing is, I really love this beer and actually donít want to say anything bad about it. Itís absolutely delicious, but as a black IPA, imo it misses roastyness. Still, donít leave it in the store, delicious stuff!!

Countbeer (4311) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - NOV 27, 2013
Bottle: Batch BICC13.01: Served in a Chouffe glass: Dark brown pour. Light brown medium to bigger sized foamy head on top of an almost pitch black colored beer. Aromas of pine, resin, pine needles, citrus, roast, malt roast, hint of some liquorice, hop flowers, some wilder yeast and floral roast. Crispy fruit tones overpower the light roast tone. Very very nice! Flavours of hop fruits like citrus, pine apple, grapefruit, resin, hope flowers, something light sticky hoppy ish, roast, bitters, floral tones, some yeast, bark roast, some light liquorice tints, herbs, light plant tones, slight hint of something sulphurish (itís so light that itís not irritating as one would think) an some wood roast ish tones. Mostly the crispy hop fruit, resin and bitter floral tones with a light roasty edge that mix in perfectly! Aftertaste of resin, bitters, hop bitters, light herbal and some hop flowers with a light roasty edge overall. Low to lightly medium carbo, creamy close to silky ish mouthfeel, full body and a creamy light watery texture. Crisp hop fruit and resin, some roast, a good bitterness. Very balanced and easy drinkable. Very enjoyable!

Bottle @ ÷lstugan Tullen. Pours very murky dark chocolate brown with a huge frothy goldenish brownish beige head that slowly dissipates while lacing lots of sticky trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is malty and fruity with roasted malts, caramel, grapefruit juice, freshly cut grass, pine needles, lemon zest, sweet liquorice candy, roasted oatmeal flakes, bitter chocolate, resinous wood and orange zest. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, malty and fruity with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, grapefruit juice, bitter chocolate, lemon zest, orange zest, pine needles, freshly cut grass, moist soil, salty liquorice candy, caramel, burnt cookies and hints of dried black currants. Mouthfeel is round, soft, slightly astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter, malty and fruity with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, salty liquorice candy, moist soil, resinous wood, lemon zest, grapefruit juice, pine needles and freshly cut grass. Glad a bottle of this was still around. Pretty sure itís not a rebrew and if so itís most likely faded a little... Irregardless of that itís still a great beer!
