Fresh pine and citrus hops meet roasted malts. We think it’s all the things a Black IPA should be.

Pullo @ Systembolaget. Kaatuu snifteriin mustana, noin kahden sormen paksuisen pilvisen vaahdon suojaamana. Tuoksusta isekvät ensimmäisenä sitruksinen ja ennen kaikkea trooppiseten hedelmien (etenkin passion) tuoma aromimaailma. Alla on kahvista ja ruisleipäistä paahteisuutta ja tumma suklaa yhtyy hedelmäisyyden aromeihin. Hieno tuoksu. Muuten huippukamaa.

330 ml bottle from my Secret Summer Santa _angst_, thanks!
Dark brown to black body, with a big, dense, creamy, beige head.
Aroma of grapefruit, resin, pine, coffee, chocolate, caramel, some liquorice, some soap, slight ash.
Taste of coffee, dark chocolate, grapefruit, pine, grass, some liquorice, some tea, some soap.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes roasty-bitter, quite dry, zesty, with coffee, cocoa, liquorice, citric notes.

Very nice. Quite complex and multifarious, as a BIPA should be, but a bit light bodied. On the other hand quite easy to drink. Enjoyable BIPA, but not among the best I’ve had.

Bottle. It pours a dark brown body under a dense, finger-thick light beige head. The aroma is lightly roasted and burnt, with some coffee and bonfire. It’s fullbodied, smooth and with a nice carbonation. Piney, citrusy hops, resins and a nice hoppy bitterness in the flavor, as well as roasted and burnt malts. Lasting finish. A tad more on the malty side than I prefer, but sure a nice and tasteful one. 150711
