   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 12/20

10-Mar-10 (22-oz bottle: Purchased 09-Feb-10 for $3.25 at Ledgerís Liquor in Berkeley, CA) This is generally a malt-centric IPA, with honey-sweet, grainy and caramely malts. Traditional hops flavors arenít really part of the profile, but instead there is plenty of orange citrus and sweetened tea. Hop bitterness is pretty gentle as well, but over several sips, the citrus rind bitterness gradually gathers a little more holding power, lingering in the finish after the malty sweetness fades off the palate. There is some metallic flavor in the initial sips, but that seems to drop out in time. In the nose, hops has pretty much fades completely, so itís mostly sweet, orange citrus, tea, and bready and grainy malts. Medium in body and moderately carbonated, with a soft, smooth mouthfeel. Hazy, golden in color, and capped by an inch of rocky, white head that settles slowly to a thin but full layer. The star here though is the complete curtain of ice-crystal lacing decorating the entire glass, top to bottom. Canít really tell how old this bottle is, but this "over the top blessing for hopheads" is not what it claims to be, and perhaps thatís due to time-induced mellowing. Enjoyable enough, though, if youíre not into aggressively hoppy and bitter IPAs.

Wow! Great IPA. All the great IPA flavor without having to deal with some harsh aftertaste. Really nice brew. Great malting. Quality brew! Classic Anderson.

Taverner (1100) - San Ramon, California, USA - JUN 20, 2010
Overall not a horrible IPA, although AVís flaship IPA is much better. Has a slight stale malt flavor, which may be why it doesnít rate higher. Pours an amber with yellow head. Flavor is stale malt, bitter hops and a clean finish with an aspirin touch. AFTER SOME TIME: OK I can see why this gets a bad rating. Corn flavors abound in the nose at times. I hate the corn flavor in beer.

poured yellow-golden with a great nice head, sweet malty arom with a hit of floral hops. flavor is very malty sweet without a few hope notes but not a notable amount of hop bitter. a basic sweet drinkable beer but lacking complexity or anything else inteesting.

Sample, GLBN IPA Challenge 2010. Malt dominated, rich maltiness, sweet malts in the finish, medium mouthfeel. Not much bitterness. Average

Bomber poured a hazy golden amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and light pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a lightly dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and light pine with a smooth dry lightly bitter finish.

Bomber. Pours a cloudy, fizzy orange with a compact ivory head. Aroma is surprisingly bland; surely not "very hoppy" as purported on the label. Just a generally grainy aroma, vague raw malt, no detectable fruit or anything else. Flavor however redeems this beer; indeed there are spicy, acidic hops right up front, sweet malts behind, somewhat metallic first sip which subsides quickly. The hops pleasantly linger on the palate. Thick, soft mouthfeel, medium carbonation. A "blessing for hopheads"? No, not exactly. Enjoyable? Sure. Nothing more, nothing less. Overall, good.

Bottle 650ml.
Clear medium orange color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, grapefruit, orange. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090813]

Bomber from Sandyís Liquors. Nose of citrus, light pine and caramel. Almost clear orange with a small yellowish head. Flavor is nicely bitter with some lingering to the finish along with some pine.

hayduke (3767) - Eureka, California, USA - SEP 22, 2009
From a 22 oz bottle purchase from the Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA this poured a hazy light orange with a foamy white head and moderate lacing. The nose is citrus and pine hops. Medium body. Flavor is lightly bitter and the finish is dry and bitter as well. Overall somewhat on the mild size but easy drinking and refreshing.
