11.2 ounce bottle. Pours caramel color, minimal head. A bit too much caramel sweetness without balancing roast or bitter hops, but still pretty good. Canít feel the relatively high ABV.

A new country for me. Clear dark brown pour with a one finger tan head. Aroma is roasted notes with Saaz hops and caramel. Flavor is quite malty and sweet with some hops in the background. Faint nut flavors. Some metal came late. Not a bad beer at all.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is of sweet malts with an ever so slight touch of caramel. Flavor is some more dry grain with again a bit of caramel. Not really great but better than i expected. Iím sure this may even be better fresh half way around the world.

12oz at Wild Ginger in Soho today. Pours cloudy brown with a tan ring. Nose is sweet, malty. Taste is sweet and malty and overall decent. Nice label too.

Bottle. Dark copper pour. Short tan head. Um, this isnít a schwarzbier. More an American Dark Lager. Iíll switch it afterward. Aroma is sweet malt and caramel. Hints of grain. Taste is caramel, sweet malts, and light cereal grains. Body is light-medium and slightly chewy with moderate carbonation. End is more caramel, sweet malts, and light cereal grains. Not too bad.

Clear brown appearance; actually, it was exactly the same color as the bottle itself. Muted, sweet, caramel malt aroma that turned vegetal as it warmed. Taste of maple syrup over rice. Light-to-medium bodied mouthfeel with good carbonation. Sticky sweet finish.

A passable dark lager that pairs well with spicy laotian food. Not much to recommend it outside of Laos, inside of Laos itís nice to have a dark option.

Beerlao Dark is a very clear brown lager with a fluffy off white head that leaves nice lacing. It has a faint aroma of grain and vegetables, with a hint of sweet and a hint of sour. It has a smooth medium body with a watery finish. It tastes slightly sweet, like dark malt extract, with no roastiness, really. Thereís a touch of chocolate and caramel and maybe squash or yams. Itís relatively inoffensive.

12 oz, mfd . Nov 06, 2008. Clear darkish brown with a two finger head. Aroma of molasses, skunk and toasted nut. Flavor is the same. LIght-medium body is dry and tingly. Probably good beer if your in Laos on vacation.

As always tasting beer after a day spent on various long haul busses, tuk tuks and boats it was the best beer Iíve ever had. On reflection itís passable darkish ale and a wonderful relief from the sea of fizzy lager to the south. Pours like a flat coke, slight biscuit taste, wee bit of hops and sweetness
