UPDATED: MAY 11, 2009 Pours brown cola color and transparent. Better than regular Beer Lao with some caramel, chocolate, roasted malt, and dark/rye bread. Hardly a great schwartzbier, but an excellent alternative to the abundance of light lagers in Asia.

Bottle. Amber, small to average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish aroma, some sugar and caramel, faint roasted malt. Body is light to medium, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish flavor, light caramel and faint roasted malt. Finish is short to average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, light caramel, faint roasted malt and chocolate. Light-bodied and caramel sweetish dark lager from Carlsberg - lacks bitterness.

Had this at Down Under in Chiang Mai. Nice malty and watery taste. :). Does the job and super easy drinking. Not bad at all

From a bottle. Nowhere near as bad as I’d expected, some mild caramel and biscuit malt flavours.

Mahogany Brown Color, Big Foamy Head That Lasts And Lots Of Thin Lacing. Light Toasted Lagerish Aroma. Lightly Toasted Malt, Light Bitter and Slightly Sweet. 6.5% ABV but feels a lot lighter. Watery, easy To Drink. Nothing special although considering the region and styles that rules it, this one is quite decent. Worth a Try although I would not go out of my way to seek it.OK

Drunk in Luang Prabang. A dark lager with thin bubbly head and heavy carbonation. Light Smokey nose. Fizzy lager taste with added bitter bite and a caramel undertone. Generic but passable.

Bottle in Vientiane, excited to try the local beer with one was okay for a dark lager in a sea of shitty lagers.

Pours brown with a off white head. Aroma of chocolate, grass and grain. Taste is coffee, chocolate and a hint of citrus.

Bottle @ a Laotian restaurant. Medium brown pour with a small head. Nose of knackered grain, slightly plasticy. Some cocoa. Flavor is somewhat saccharine. Artificial sweetener. Mild toffee and toasted malt. Medium body, active carb. Not great, but it’s not bad for what it is.

(4) Below average. Remember it as better than the BeerLao pilsner - but that is because there is nothing much to choose from in Lao. A good beer - selection thinking.
