Small bottle in Mae Kasa, Thailand. Pours a coppery gold. Small head diminishes quickly. Aroma of grains, hops. Taste, grainy, maybe a little malt. Tangy with medium carbonation. Slightly more interesting than the usual pale lager but not as good as the dark. The usual bitter aftertaste.

One of Asia’s best beers in my opinion although horrendously expensive here in Vietnam. Good lashings of malt, hops, apples and rice plus other assorted fruity flavours. Quite a refreshing, crisp beer with a bitter, yet moderately sweet palate and a slightly sharp after taste. Retains a modicum of superiority over the original Beer Lao and goes wonderfully with a hearty Vietnamese or indeed any heavy Asian meal.

Bottle@Laos. Golden beer with a reasonable head. The aroma is lightly bitter and yeasty, and the flavour is yeasty and dry with gentle bitterness. Overall an average lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Small frothy white head. Fair lacing. Mostly diminishing. Clear dark yellow thyin body. Aroma: honey. Initial flavor: light sweet. Final flavor: light sweet very light bitter; short duration. Palate: metallic finish, lively carbonation, light medium body, watery texture. Slight resemblance to a Bohemian Pilsener places it a little above the Brazilian commercial average. 4s USD1

Bottle. Light golden, small to average and fully diminishing head. Light, malty – lightly grainy and lightly sweetish aroma, light caramel with faint - light notes of vegetable/herbal hoppyness. Body is light, malty – lightly grainy and lightly sweetish - sweetish flavor, light caramel and light cardboard with faint hoppyness. Finish is short, malty – lightly grainy and lightly sweetish, light caramel and cardbord, light metal, faint - light notes of vegetable/herbal hoppyness. Light-bodied lager with caramel and faint hoppyness. Really nothing special.

My fourth time in Laos and the first time I’ve actually found this. 330ml bottle bought from a supermarket in Pakse. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aroma of malt and cardboard. Sweet taste with some grain. More taste than regular Beer Lao just not sure if it’s a good thing.

(3) Not worth buying. A slightly better version of the regular pilsner. Fun to drink in Lao - I would be sad to have it back home when you can get darker beers.

Bottle. Thanks to KL. Grainy nose, very light sweet fruit, fairly clean. Very pale yellow straw color. Moderate grainy initial, some sweet malt lightened up with rice, and a light rising of hops in mid and final. Thin-medium body. Okay. Grain abounds, along with the rice notes.

Bottle brought back direct from the brewery by my wife. Drank on the patio on a 32 degree C. day in Kyoto. Light malt nose with a bit of citrus, herbal hops. Not bad. Rather bright golden color, low head. Reasonably nice malt flavor, nothing off, citrus, grass. Light and crisp. Good hot weather beer. Not so interesting, but drinkable and nice. Does the trick that it aims to do.
