If you ever expected something like this, you are a real believer. These Lao people know how to make a really good beer, and they’re sooo proud about it. Simply Awesome.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 flying_pig (337) - SCOTLAND - DEC 28, 2011
Bottle (330ml):
Some light malts & faint grassy hops, a fair bit of adjuncts such as vegetables and possibly rice. There is a bit of grain in there as well & a very faint amount of skunk towards the end.
Crystal clear & light straw coloured with a two-fingered size, foamy white head that has very good retention, managing to stay without receding for well over two minutes.
Grassy hops and some vegetable adjuncts to begin with and some faint lager malts. The flavour is basic but very nice. There is some mild honey and a touch of lemon.
Very smooth & very creamy feeling, the beer is light bodied and goes down incredibly well with a beautiful crisp finish.
Up there with the best lagers I have ever tried, it may not be quite as good as I remember when drinking it on the banks of the Mekong but it is still a great beer.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Derek881 (726) - Frederick, Maryland, USA - NOV 13, 2011
I had several of these beers while in Luang Prabang, Laos. The beer had a light gold color with a foamy white head that had modest cling and retention. Its aroma was a light grainy hops with touches of malt, yeast, and barley. The taste was somewhat grainy and bitter with a slight sweet effect. It was fairly smooth with low-to-average carbonation and a lighter, wetter mouthfeel.

Shared this bottle with Craig at the Brauhaus. Wish they’d used more rice so this could be a cream ale. Pours a blonde colour with a thin white head. Aroma of bready yeast, caramel and barley. Similar flavours. Mildly bitter with lingering grassy hops. Mild carbonation and CO2 prickle.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 YoungGunn (20) - Dublin, IRELAND - OCT 31, 2011
This was a rank auld beer. aroma is just of cheap tat. Budweiser rices come to mind. On the palate I suppose it might rinse nicely with a curry or some oriental dish, but on it’s own it’s a penance to drink. Tastes of that ricey Budweiser-ness, accompanied by just a tint of hopping to carry it a head height above the bottom shelf. It is what it is, but give me Bud over it.
1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Powertrip (841) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 2, 2011
Single bottle purchased from Co-op Wine & Spirits on 08/11/2011 in Calgary, AB. Colour: Mostly gold with low head. Nose: Mild yeast and malt, pickle juice, boiled corn. Taste: Light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour. The hops don’t taste fresh at all. There is a late stinging bitterness that is unpleasent. Some sour jelly throughout. Quite disapointing. Sticky mouthfeel.
