02/02/2012 330ml bottle. Ambrata intensa, lievemente torbida, schiuma biancastra, poco abbondante e poco persistente. Aroma agrumatissimo, note erbacee, resina, pigna, pino silvestre e chi più ne ha più ne metta. Una bomba di luppolo. In bocca è molto amara, molto persistente, abbastanza stucchevole a lungo andare. Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Questo genere di birre comincia sinceramente a stancarmi.

500 ml bottle from El Irlandés. Best before 25.12.12. In the glass it appears as a hazy orange/amber color with a big white fluffy head that diminishes slowly. The fantastic aroma shows notes of pine, resin, lemongrass, lime, rhubarb, passion fruit, pomegranate and mango. It gets better with warming. Taste is great, bitter, fruity and grassy, intense and refined. It begins with slightly sweetish fruity notes of passion fruit and green apples with a touch of lime. The finish is grassy and piney with hints of lemongrass, pine spruce, grapefruit and pineapple. Reasonably complex and harmonious, this IPA has a medium to full body. A malty backbone provides a solid foundation for the hoppy building on top of it. Aftertaste of lemongrass is long and pleasant. Alcohol is almost unnoticeable. This is one of the best India Pale Ales I’ve ever had. I would pair this with seafood or strong tasting fishes of the Jack family.

Tap. Pours a medium amber, with a white head. Very hoppy, quite rustique aroma, lots of spruce, grapefruit peel, caramel, grass, pineapple core. Dry, medium bodied, high bitterness, balanced CO2. Very fruity and hoppy taste, the rye malt adds a robust, slightly sour touch, along with lots of piney hop notes, grapefruit, apricot, caramel, malt, yeast, a faint buttery note that is a bit off style. Rustique, yet still highly drinkable. (2012-01-18)

Draft. Pours hazy amber with thin off-white head; good lacing. Aroma is citrus hops, straw and sweet bread. Flavor matches the nose dominated by hoppy/citrus bitterness. Medium body and carbonation with light warmth. Good IPA.

Pour hazy amber, with no head. Aroma is nice and hoppy. Ofc. Grassy, fruity. Fresh and a little bitter. Medium body, with a quite flat amount of CO2.

Tap. Pours hazy amber with a medium, fizzy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy pine, floral and citrus hops with biscuit and straw malt, and fruity esters. Flavor is light malt with heavy hops and bitterness, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body, warmth and carbonation.

On tap @ Henrik, Bergen. A light clouded chestnut-brown beer with a thin - almost non existing off-white sidesticking head. Sweet in the aroma with caramel, fruity hops, sweet blue grapes and grape. Softly carbonated with a slick thin-oily mouthfeel. Bitter and hoppy flavors and it has that hint of rye that I have found in other rye-beers. It’s hoppy, but for me kinda boring-bitter. Fruity with lots of citrus and kinda grassy towards the finish. Ends mouthdrying. By all means, not horrible but just not completely there for me, and I suspect this could have been a old keg.
