COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children.  In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well.  It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped.  Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward.  13.5ºP, 85 ibus, 5.2% abv. Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

On tap at the brewery. Pale yellow with off white head. One of the most flavourful APAs I’ve had - nice balance of citrus, light pine, some mango and pineapple, overall very refreshing. Slight bitterness, light soapiness on the palate, moderate body and above average carbonation, light dryness on the finish along with some citrus.

A Mes rate. Tap at Lord Hobo.
Ugly as a tired old slapper who hasn’t put her teeth in. Milky, dirty yellow brown with just a wisp of white head. I feel bad marking it down for something that really shouldnt matter but all i can do is be honest. Thankfully, once this little gem reaches the olfactories, it’s nothing short of sublime. Perfectly spiritely, bright and floral and aromatic. It’s a real feast for the senses. It has an earthy Nelson Sauvin on rye character about it. Just a lick of resin, perfect bitterness and the yeast sings like an angel all the way through. Epic citric notes, orange and tangerine all over the place. Balance, poise, finesse, it’s got the lot. Other than the looks... Shit the bed.

(Draught) Pours a cloudy orange body with a medium white head. Aroma of earth, weed, apricot, and citrus. Flavor of citrus, earth, stone fruit, caramel, and grass with a dry, bitter finish.

Absolutely love this beer. Fresh pine and citrus hop aroma exactly as they describe it. Crisp and clean on the pallet, thick white head lasting all the way to the end, superb balance of upfront hops with subtle malt undertones. Straight in to my top 10 beers for this year.

Draft at Frida’s in Stowe,VT. Poured into a large tulip type glass, a golden clear with a thicky frothy white head. Nose is booming with fresh piney hops, a wonderfully intense hop bouquet. Palate is crisp, clean, finishes with a nice bitterness. Flavors of biscuity hops and grass notes, the hops fill in the background with light pine and floral notes. Could easily drink this everyday with no complaints.

Served on-tap at Al’s of Hampden into a nonic pint. A - Pours sunkist orange with a nice thick one finger tall white head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving spotty lacing down the glass. S - Lots of strong, grassy, citric hops blend in well with the bready malt to form a nicely balanced nose. While the hops dominate they really never get too out of control. Good stuff. T - Nice grassy hop bite up front giving way to a mix of graham cracker malt and grapefruit flavors from the citric hops. Finish is a bit chewy with plenty of lingering bitterness. Having had quite a few of the hoppy Hill Farmstead offerings now I would have to say this one is near the top of the list. Glad I finally got to try it. M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. A mix of pine resin and chewy malt in both the feel and finish. D - Awesome stuff. I really enjoyed this one quite a bit. The strong hop punch was very nice, as was the lower ABV, but the slightly chewy feel brought it down a notch. Still very drinkable tho.

On tap at the Gingerman NYC. Rating 6000. Pours with a hazed golden hued body with a lasting white head. Aromas are super hoppy, with tropical fruit, tangerine, grapefruit, lightly dank with a light caramel malt character. Very clean. Maybe some Centennial in the hop bill? Flavors are bready, biscuity, dry, bitter, orange, tangerine. Really hoppy and dry. Very well made in a West Coast style. Lively, dry and bright. Hoppy and fresh, very solid!

Draft at CCB. Nose is huge grapefruit and pummelo. Grassy and floral hops bring this one to life giving it a well-water like aroma. Reminds me of the outdoors. Pour is hazy yellow/orange with a white head. Taste is full of citrus and grapefruit with more of the well-water hoppiness. An excellent and extremely drinkable brew that should be had by all. Wow.
