Cask (gravity) - Norwich Beer Festival 2010. Very dark brown in appearance with a small & bubbly light brown head sitting on top. Creamy chocolate, coffee, smoke & seaweed aromas. Dominated by bitter chocolate & coffee on the tongue with an underlying dry saltiness. Soft mouthfeel, medium body with a dry medium length finish.

Clear dark black brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, honey notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100120]

Fruity and a little roast aroma. Small tan head. Dark red coloured smooth on the palate and fruity with a crisp dry and slightly bitter roast finish.

Cask, Hinckley 08. Inky, headless and still. Red pepper, ash, coal smoke and coffee aroma. Lactic tang, cocoa and smoke. Festival splash of sourness. Lingers nicely, but a bit feeble-bodied and not wholly convincing. More chocolate as it warms. Won me over.

Cask, gravity, at Cambridge Beer Festival ’08. Very dark brown. A slight chocolate aroma. Pleasant sweet coffee taste with some late bitterness. But that’s about it.
