suprchunk (2346) - Crestview, Florida, USA - APR 11, 2012
Ruby highlighted, dark toffee/coffee colored pour. Big, foamy tan head. Looks like a yeast starter. Plenty of lacing. Malty, molasses aroma with hints of roast. Sweet malt flavor with a hint of model glue. Decent beer. More akin to a porter than a DB.

Marsiblursi (3028) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 18, 2012
(Bottle) Pours black. The aroma holds sweet liquorice, sweet blueberries, caramel, sugar, dark chocolate and coffee roast (too roasted for a Bock). The flavour is medium sweet and light bitter with sweet liquorice, caramel, coffee, chocolate and some dark fruits. The mouthfeel is gentle, soft and round, yet a bit sticky. Medium to full bodied.

3fourths (8238) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 14, 2012
bottle. slightly oxidized nose of cardboard, dust, stale plum, light char with moderately strong dark fruit esters. medium-thick body, low acid and bitterness with medium-high sweetness (black cherry, plum, light burnt apple) and an inky tar character, but all rather muddled and dulled by the yeast. obviously not in perfect condition, but i feel that even if it were I’d not consider it one of the best beers out of Hungary.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2012 0,33l bottle from Sörspecialista, Budapest. Clear ruby color with minimal beige head. Nice coffee, caramel, alcohol and fruit (prunes) aroma with some roasted malt. The alcohol is too dominant. Dry, medium bitter-sweet taste. Full body with creamy texture and lively carbonation. Long fruity alcohol roasty finish. It’s a very good beer. It’s a transition between the taste of stouts and doppelbocks. It’s a promising attempt from a small Hungarian brewery.

not my favourite beer style but this is kind of good. arome is like other doppelbocks. the flavor is light to medium and it has a very dry and winy after taste which makes this beer good.

Bottle from Csak a jo sörëki, Budapest. Pours black with a small tan head. Roasted malts and molasses aroma. Quite sweet to start with, then developing more roasted flavours to complement the caramel. Not revolutionary, but absolutely drinkable.

Erasmus_ro (1484) - Alabama, USA - SEP 30, 2011
Bottle brought home from Budapest. BBE 20082012. Pours a very dark brown, almost black with no head. Aroma is sweet syrupy liquorice, some roasted malt. Taste is very light and thin, watery, not as sweet as you’d imagine, liquorice, tones of roastedness and coffee, slight traces of alcohol. Palate is light, watery, no carbonation. Very disappointing.
