Bottle from Only rare Beers, Budapest. Pours black with a steady beige head. Good roasted malts aroma. A bit sweet, some molasses, only partially countered by roasted bitterness. True to style, though stronger.

0.5 bottle from csakajósör. Starts with an extremely promising fruity aroma, sour cherry, berries, herbs. It quickly vanishes, unfortunately, together with the brownish foam. After 2 minutes, all foam is totally gone, which makes its appearance quite disappointing. The taste is again very promising in the beginning, various fruits (berries mostly) compete with coffee, nuts and liqourice. Some hops are also detectable in the aftertaste. However, complexity quickly vanishes and a mildly roasted caramelly taste dominates the end. The strong alcohol content is fairly well hidden, in fact its taste seems quite thin, which can be quite misleading. Overall, very good start, disappointing finish, uneven composition.

Black color in the glass. Dark iodine looking on the pour. Small tan head, no lacing. Roasty aroma with a sourness. Taste is roasty, caramel with a vegatal backend. Not bad, but there are better beers out there. I’d pass in the future.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2012 0,5l bottle from Beer Bier, Budapest. Clear deep reddish brown color with medium off-white head. First the odor is sour coffee, but later banana and vanilla appears. Smoky roasted malty aroma with coffee and latte. I like this aroma. Light bitter taste. Medium body with soft carbonation and slick texture. Bitter-sweet roasted malty finish. It’s a good beer with amazing aroma. It’s a strong and delicious one.

500 ml bottle. Courtesy of armando629. Budapest, Hungary.
Pitch black as the name suggest. Tiny tan head. Liquorice, malt, salty liquorice and tiny hints of coffee in dry aroma. Coffee, roasted malt, liquorice and some mild sweetness in dryish flavour. Slightly too roasted and heavy for a Schwarzbier but still quite enjoyable even though I don’t dig the coffee flavour. Solid products from this brewery.

Very dark colour, oily liquid with small head. Floral fragrances along with dried fruits and roasted malt aroma. Nice, medium-sweet taste of roasted cocoa and coffee. Aftertaste feels good too. Easily drinkable, the 7% alc. doesn’t ruin the experience. Nicely done beer.

Bottled. Purchased at Csakajósör in Budapest. Dark brown colour with bubbly pale brown head. Coffee, caramel and chocolate in aroma. Feels extremely sweet already in aroma, like a Baltic Porter. Flavour reveals sweetness, but is felt less sweet than in aroma. But it is sweet. Thermos coffee, residual sugars, tad chocolate that lingers, and soy sauce along with caramel. Low bitterness, medium bodied. Skip the meritose.

nbutler dragged this plastic screw cap back from hungary. consumed 3/10/11. cola color. no head. dead flat. smells and tastes like sake that has been in a paper cup.... mixed with a touch of soy... very floral, lots of alcohol and some malt syrup. flat and absolutely atrocious.

Dark brown, almost black colour with a small, light brown head which is early dissapeared. It has coffee and maybe anise in the aroma. Coffee and dark chocolate in the taste and coffee bitterness in the afterteste. The mouthfeel is oily and it’s full bodied.
