Our Dammed Double IPA has more hops than logs in a dam! Yet, you would never know it. This beer carries all of the spicy and earthy complexity that hops offers without the harsh bitterness. With a clean finish, this beer is proof that God loves you, and He wants you to be happy.

Nice amount of citrus and spruce-like hops transported by caramelly sweetness. Nothing we havenít seen before, but well done. 220z bottle.

complex mix of spicy and earthy hops, and citrus tropical fruity hops and a firm malt backbone. Firmly in the good but not great category.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and tropical fruit aroma. Tropical fruit and grapefruit flavor with light spice. Medium bodied. Decent bitterness. Tropiical fruit and grapefruit linger.

Bomber from Casa De Oro. Hoppy with a decent sweetness. Well balanced. A little bit on the sweet side. Pretty goo. Could use a little more crispness.

On tap at apex. Pours a somewhat cloudy orange color with a medium white head. A big sweet meaty nose. The flavor is big dank hops, resin, oranges. Very good. Super smooth.

On tap at Apex, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out a very floral and piney hop quality, followed by earthy biscuity malt. Flavour is sweet and piney, with piney hops galore as well as sweet caramel bready malt. Not hugely complex but it works well. Very nice.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, fully lasting. Body is hazy light to medium amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, malt syrup, wort, cereal, husks), moderately hoppy (apricot, grapefruit, resin), with notes of plastic, corn syrup, decaying/spoiling fruit juice, squash, bile/vomit, diacetyl. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic, lightly astringent. Yuck. Iíve been avoiding these beers here in Maui because the labels/names are so horrible, but as Iíve been rating a lot of IPAs and DIPAs in the last several months, I figured it would be worthwhile to try one in this vein. And I also hoped that I was being silly for judging a book by its cover. But alas, this is some seriously icky stuff...start with raw/rough malt character and then add in unpleasant vegetal / rotting fruit notes and plastic, and that will start to paint the picture for you. It basically smells infected, although the sourness in the mouth is fairly mild...itís super-sweet, goopy, and quite boozy, with a dirty aftertaste. Looks great in the glass, but thatís the only redeeming feature. A repulsive drain pour and probably the last time I will try something from this place.

Poured into a pint glass. 3.75 A: Moderately hazed amber orange color. Three fingers of pillowy beige head. Retention is about average and lots of lacing is left. 3.75 S: Big citrusy component in this - tons of mango, orange, papaya. Rich caramel and toffee maltiness. Grapefruit and some pine. 3.5 T: Like the nose, big citrus with a strong malt backbone. Fruit trio mentioned above, caramel and toffee. Unfortunately this has some cooked vegetables in there, which their IPA also had. 3.5 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Slightly creamy and smooth enough. 3.25 D: It tastes pretty good overall, but I have to dock it some points due to the off flavors. ★ 692 characters DavoleBomb, Jun 14, 2015
