zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Dec 10, 2008 [bottle - 12 oz] Reddish amber color with a puffy white head. Aroma is mild with some hints of malt, apples, and some dry hops. Flavor is slightly sweet at the beginning with good hints of apple and pear that leave the palate quickly and go to a rather peppery and bitter hop middle with a light hint of malt, and an oddly sweet finish. Aftertaste is dry with an odd plastic taste. Not real sure about this. beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Nov 20, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Is this ale brewed with lobster? Actually, that might have been a better alternative to the beer I drank. Pours a clear reddish amber with a moderate linen white head that lasted until mid-glass and left a thin layer of lace with each sip. Mild aroma of malt and a few whiffs of excessively sweet fruit. The flavor is strong malt along with a bit of overly sweet fruit and an odd hoppy flavor that I can best describe as chewing tobacco juice. This just overwhelms the beer and I frankly only drank about half of the glass. Other than their winter ale, I have not had anything from Shipyard that was all that good, and this beer certainly kept that opinion well intact. pumpmaster (474), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA Oct 17, 2008 12 ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for $1.49 Very ggod. thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Oct 11, 2008 Bottle. [thanks, asheft]
Pours golden-brown with a nice, frothy, yellowish head. Aroma is lightlt sweet, some caramel and light hoppiness. Fine, lightish mouthfeel. Flavour has small notes of cardboard, good dry Cascade hoppiness and some caramel in the background. Okay. BelgianBeerGal (1276), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Sep 25, 2008 Draught at Thurston’s lobster pound in Bernard, ME. Really surprised me as this was a great amber ale. Very well balanced with malt and just enough bitterness from the hops. Give it a try if possible. rds (224), USA Sep 24, 2008 Updated: Sep 26, 2008It’s really a clear amber brew with a thin tan head, bit of molasses and mild hoppiness, and a quick finish. I had hoped for more fruitiness here. Slipstream (734), USA Sep 5, 2008 Shipyard Brewing seems to pump out a lot of beers under a variety of names - this is a practice that makes for fun labels that make one ask, "What is this little microbrew here?" - but that also makes one suspicious. This is a solidly built amber ale that is well-hopped and very drinkable - worth trying. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. Pours a ruddy reddish brown with a very nice tannish head. The nose is sweet, roasted winter fruit. This was better than I thought as I grabbed it running out the door of a CT beer shop. Much darker than a typical amber, it was hopped, fruited and roasted all kinda bouncing in the mix but not so badly. I mean, I don’t think I’ll be going back to get a 6er but if I saw it in your fridge, I’d grab a cold one.
