cbeers21 (563), Miami, Florida, USA Jun 12, 2008 Pours copper brown w/ nice head and decent retention. Vanilla, caramel with figgy dried fruits come to mind. Chewy sugary body with rounded features. Distant hoppy lightly bittering echoes in the back. rcweir (119), Massachusetts, USA Jun 1, 2008 Thin head, good lacking, light chestnut brown. Earthy aroma, a but musty, some alcohol bitterness breaking through, medium body. freekyp (900), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA May 17, 2008 Pours a slightly murky dark amber bordering on brown and sports at smallish tan quickly receding head. Aroma is displays an English style malt and light fruity hops. More like an English bitter than an Amber as described. Aftertaste is long and lightly fruity. Strong toffee notes creep in mid-glass. Well balanced and an easy drinking session ale. georgekappus (296), Brookfield, Connecticut, USA Apr 14, 2008 Bottle. Pours a nice deep reddish amber like a well cooked lobster. Aroma is sweet and doughy with a touch of cherries(?). Taste is a bit odd, some maltiness with a fruity bite. Beerlando (2286), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 11, 2008 Pours a crystal clear reddish-copper. A foamy, off-white head leaves tiny rings and random spots on the glass. Notes of glazed biscuit, toasted caramel malts, and mild floral hops comprise the nose. Flavors are basically the same, with perhaps a touch of spice to accompany the floral hop component. There’s also a doughy yeast element in there. The palate is on the lighter side of medium bodied, smooth and creamy, but finishing dry and slightly astringent. Certainly nothing to write home about, which is typical of Shipyard. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Apr 6, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a lovely brownish red with a small whitish head. Aroma of biscuit and hops with a hint of caramel. Taste of caramel and some floral hops. Clean taste with a lingering breadiness. Not bad but it’s pretty basic. Good session amber. Ron (1002), Rochester, New York, USA Apr 5, 2008 Light red in color. Slightly small head that lingers the entire beer. Smells pretty good with a fruity smell. The fruitiness and other tastes in the beer are all well matched but I did not enjoy the ending. A decent amber none the less. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Apr 3, 2008 Bottle; poured an auburn/amber color with medium, thick head. Aroma was malty; with caramel, toffee, must, fruit and toasted malt. Flavor was ok; some decent bitterness. Palate seemed astringent. Ok overall.
