dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 26, 2008 Thanks to Ian for the bottle. Pours a nice amber red with a thick white head. Slightly malty aroma. Taste is smooth and malty with a touch of hops. McGarnigle (302), Rochester, New York, USA Mar 24, 2008 Bottle dated Aug 08. No mention of Shipyard. Clear amber, big head. Aroma hints at sweet malt and faint citrus hops. This is pretty much it. Hops are subtle and dry at the finish. I got the tangy edge that others did, but not so much the diacetyl. Body is a bit light and fizzy; for summer, really. hopscotch (5440), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 10, 2008 Bottle… Clear amber ale with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. Toffee, caramel and honey nose with lesser notes of unidentified fruit. Barely medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Leans on the bitter side of balance while providing restrained flavors of toffee and fruit. A touch bland. Short, crisp finish. rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden Mar 3, 2008 Bottle. Amber color, creamy offwhite head. Malty aroma, caramel notes. Malty flavor as well, a bit onedimensional. Weak hoppy finish. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Feb 4, 2008 Pours a brownish amber with a minimal crème head. Nose is like the candy part of a red candy apple. Flavor is a bit too tangy. Lacks balance and maturity. Feel is decent. It is drinkable, sure. But this lack of balance and screaming tangy edge just kills it for me. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Jan 2, 2008 Draft at Ski Bar. Amber color but the head sucks. In fact the whole beer stinks. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Dec 13, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear light amber with a thin off white head and slight lacing. Aroma is typical shipyard - light to medium Diacetyl with moderate toffee sweetness, and caramel. Flavor is light with a wierrd off pasteurized twang to it- slick and lightly nutty, caramell and chocolate hint. Wierd finish- slick and bitter - almost astringent. Glad I only bought a single. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA Oct 19, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours copper with a frothy off-white head. Fruity red apple peel aroma with caramel to toffee malts and a touch of butterscotch--reminded me of English Pales and ESBs in that sense. Caramel and toast flavors balanced adequately with earthy hops. Dry, earthy finish. Seemed a tad thin in body and overcarbonated however, the only real drawbacks. Otherwise a drinkable session, but not a standout.
