No two ways around it - this was some awesome stuff. The ’Real Beer’ cap was a nice touch, too. Wow...
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 lagermonkey (725) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAY 9, 2005
12 oz bottle (usually enjoy this on tap...)
Pours black as night with a good brown head with nice lace. Smell is creamy and nutty, no bitterness at all.
Taste is complex. Smoky, roasted malt immediately. Creamy and sweet, this stout never really bites but it doesn’t leave your tastebuds lacking. Hint of sweet chocolate. The weird taste is that it is a bit oaky, like an aged port. Very good...
Very full bodied and lingers on the palette. This is one of my favorites although it is my first time from a bottle. Right up there as one of the best stouts brewed in Maine.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ruggedman (646) - Portland, Maine, USA - JUN 6, 2005
Very good Oatmeal stout. I put off trying this for way too long and I shouldn’t have. Beautiful dark color with nice creamy tan head. The head thins out and stays for the majority of the time. Smells quite nice. Dark chocolate flavor with hints of vanilla and various roasts. Very yummy, if you see this buy it, it’s better than I expected.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 SanfordBrewer (1350) - Sanford, Florida, USA - JUL 8, 2010
Opaque black, foamy tan head, silky but frothy full body, bubbly medium co2.
Aroma: sweet charcoal, damp earth, slight whiff of smoke, hint of silage.
Taste: bright sour grassy silage, roasty chocolate malt.
this is how i would imagine an oatmeal porter or oatmeal mild. not a lot of flavors, but each is assertive, balanced, and very pleasant. balanced as much by the sour tone as by the bittering hops. I need a nicely browned steak and kidney pie!

Nice roasted coffee aroma. Very little hop aroma present. Dark black color with a tan head that laces the pint till the end. Really great malty, earthy, roasted not burnt flavor that makes it nice and sweet. Very good hop flavor. Nice full body, very creamy.

Aquired from porterhouse. Thank you. Pours black with huge tan head. It actually raised about an inch above the rim and stayed there. Beautiful pour!!! Aroma is massive dark chocolate and burnt malts. Flavor is great. Big coffee and bitter malts. I also noticed some mild hops.

Pours pitch black with a dark tan head that is pretty big. Nose is roasted malts that have a very slightly smoked quality to it. Flavor is heavily smoked malts. Off the first sip I wonder if it will be too much. We shall see. Interesting. Something just hit my brain. Blue cheese. You know that funky edge you get off some blue cheeses? That is what I just pulled off this, and in a firm way. Feel has a full carbonation and the liquid is good too. Overall a good stout. Definitely well bodied and with a defined character. Worth trying.

Thanks to my sister for picking this and a bunch of other beers up for me on the family vacation to Boston and Maine that I was unable to attend!

Holly BeerGod!
You should see the pour of this beer! The body is totally opaque and the head is soooo-freaking dark chocolaty, rocky and bountiful! This looks like a tasty mocha dissert treat!
The aroma brings lusty hints of coco, coffee, and fresh cream and newly milled grains. This really smells like a bowl of Coco Puffs or Chocolate Rice Crispy’s! WOW!! The flavor is very robust and exceptionally delicious! Notes of oak and highly kilned malts bring a nice charred likeness! Also a very pronounced suggestion of hearty and full flavored maduro cigar tobacco! This is a beer that could hold it’s own with the finest and most robust stogies, anywhere! There is mocha and espresso all over this stout, and the oats bring the greatest undertones into the overall character… Has a dry and ashy finish… thick velvety coco palate…. This is tremendous Stout; I wasn’t expecting much from this beer and ended up discovering a true WINNER!!
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jimhilt (2282) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - FEB 26, 2005
Pours with a five-finger plus (pour very slowly) brown head that is thick and frothy leaving a ton of lace. Totally black color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is roasted coffee. Starts with a strong roasted coffee flavor, some sweetness and finishes with a roasted/burnt coffee. Nice beefy stout. $1.49 for a 12oz bottle, Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.
