Sparky27 (717), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Alraomon. Pours a pitch black with 2 finger fluffy tan head. Nose is cocoa and burnt malt. Taste is ash, burnt toast, dark chocolate and a touch of coffee in the finish. Light-to-medium mouth feel. Not bad. Thanks Sean.
markwise (356), Just North of Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 4, 2008 Pours deep brown with very zealous tan head. Aroma is dry- coffee, dark chocolate, and licorice. Flavor is same. Fizzy for a stout & so-so overall. blipp (961), Grand Island, New York, USA Nov 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours near black with a billowing tan head. Roasted malt and coffee aroma. The flavor is roasted malt and coffee beans with a nice touch of burnt wood. Nice. douglas88 (944), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Oct 29, 2008 Bottle thanks to daknole. Pours a dark brown color with a medium brown head. Surprisingly, there was a ton of rust around the cap, though the beer seemed fully carbonated and fine. The aroma is roasted malts, some sour notes also. The taste is good; smoky, roasted malts, caramel, and a bit of sourness which may be a sign of infection or a beer past its prime. Otherwise though, a smooth and rich mouthfeel and pretty tasty. rugbydude05 (193), Kew Gardens, New York, USA Oct 19, 2008 Draft at a local sports bar. Pours an opaque black color with a coffee-colored head. Aroma is very faint and spicy with a bit of sweetness. Taste is also a bit spicy but very subtle. Could have had a few more of these- palate was very smooth with a refreshing aftertaste. Beardface (259), Eugene, Oregon, USA Oct 18, 2008 The best beer I had on my visit to Maine in the summer of 07. Clearly I should have looked into getting some Allagash instead.
