COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Starting with this naturally pure Abitibi Esker water, Mons Abbey Witte is brewed with passion and devotion to time-honored Belgian tradition from a blend of malted and unmalted wheat infused with Styrian Golding hops, Hallertau Hersbrucker, and a hint of coriander and orange peel for a discrete citrusy bouquet.

pours almost clear extra pale yellow with a nice creamy white cap offering some retention and lacing. dusty and spicy citrus, sweetish wheat, chalky herbs, noble styrian, white grapes, soap, minerals. bright carbonation, light body - slightly watery; relatively dry herbal-peppery finish. mineral and classic wit on the sweet side. a pleasant surprise.

(1757-260216)

750 ml bottle as the 2015 Christmas gift. Hazy light yellow, little head. Light wheat malt aroma, a bit of citrus spiciness. Not a strong citrus wheat taste, fairly dry, a juicy finish. Well I’m happy I did not pay for this!

Slightly hazed light straw yellow pour, generous white head that did not last long unfortunately, left a little lace. Nice witbier aroma, lemon citrus, clove, banana. Fresh and light on the tongue. Nice beer, good for the style.

Pours a hazy yellow with a thin white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of coriander and soft wheat. Taste is a little sweet, wheat-y and of coriander. Body is medium, carbonation moderate. Overall a middle-of-the-road witbier.

Very clear pale golden pour with a thin quickly dissipating lace. Sweet citrus fruit aroma. Slight spiced hints. Refreshing, tangy beer with hints of orange and citrus. Slightly spiced finish. Nice beer.

Corked and caged 750 ml bottle shared. Pours a hazed gold with a white head of foam. The aroma is light doughy notes with some citrus zest coming through as well. The taste is mostly sweet and bready. Medium body and medium carbonation.

Pours apple juice into the glass. A cap of thin foam appears on top that flees quicker than Stephen Harper’s hairline (that is a toupee, right?). The apple juice appears again, this time in the flavour profile where I get: crisp red apples, candied yeast, vague pepper spices, breakfast orange juice & a few handfuls of wheat. Pretty good on a hot August evening after a long bike ride.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a hazy yellow color with a decent transparency about it to allow a slight carbonation to be seen rising into a one finger white foamy head. Once the head dissipated and in fact, that head barely lasted twenty seconds, boy did that fade fast, there was some light stringy speckled lacing roaming all over the glass. The smell had a zesty lemon, clove, banana esters combined and coming through in a sweet sort of way. The taste took those flavors and combined nicely. On the palate, this one sat fairly light and came across fairly sessionable. The carbonation was there and decent as a witbier and good to me. Overall, good witbier I’d have again if I could get it.
