Starting with this naturally pure Abitibi Esker water, Mons Abbey Witte is brewed with passion and devotion to time-honored Belgian tradition from a blend of malted and unmalted wheat infused with Styrian Golding hops, Hallertau Hersbrucker, and a hint of coriander and orange peel for a discrete citrusy bouquet.

The taste is good on this one, picked up at Veux-Tu. The carbonation is excessive, burp city if it make you feel good. As a cask, much better. Spice, notable hops. Lasting head on yellow body. The guy can brew.

Bottle at La Foire Gourmande in Ville Marie Quebec. Hazy golden pour, big frothy white head. Aroma of coriander, lemon, and wheat. Good carb, mouth feel is a little bloated. More lemon, and a touch of spices in the finish. Coriander being the most dominant. A little too much malted wheat, emparting a touch of butter in the finish.

750 ml bottle from Drummonville Loblaws. Pours a murky dull darkish yellow with small white cap. Aroma is mellow citrus and wheat. Flavour has gentle lemon and orange zest, wheat and hints of spice. A little lifeless in the mouth. Not bad, but pretty forgettable.

Purchased at a local IGA store. Be careful with this cork, as they seem to be a little loose and pop-away as soon as the cage is off (active carbonation not helping as well). Pours a hazy light golden colour with a white, bubbly-fizzy head, average retention and a little lacing. Lots of spices in the nose with citrus and mild sour notes, reminding me of a Belgian Ale and not so much, a witbier (similar to their Blonde I just had last week). Same for taste, but a little milder. The difference is in the finish with some wheat grains and hints of honey. So, a decent brew that does not shock with crazy character, but a little all over the place with their description and what style they really wanted to do here.

750 ml in full production with cage and cork. It doesn’t earn it. Not a bad witbier, if a little too fizzy for my liking. Soft citrusy flavors, perhaps too soft. Refreshing enough on a 90 degree May day.

Bomber. Hazy yellow pour with a huge white head. Citrus zest and coriander. Drinkable and decent.

750 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Hazy light golden with a fragile white head. Aroma: Fairly spicy and zingy, some nice citrus peel, a little yeast, some wheat, a touch of a savoury note..., light esters, fair. Palate: Medium body, fairly lively effervescence. Flav.: More esters than the nose, a little floral honey, lighter spice and citrus character, faint yeast, fairly refreshing; dry with low bitterness and a somewhat vapid wheat-like finish.

Not particularly memorable...for either good or bad characteristics.

Ok witbier but a bit on the mild/bland side. Everything is there but not to the extent I would like it, ie. there could be more wheat influence in the malt and as the bottle says there is a "hint" of coriander and orange peel and that is accurate. Not bad and easy drinking but not enough character to be a memorable beer.
