Attractive coppery pour with a well-retained head and lively carbonation. Sourish apple-like aroma reminiscent of a fruity English bitter (Badger?),with hints of cinnamon, honey, candy sugar. Palm’s thumbprint is definitely on this one. Fruity, smooth and caramel malty with a sweet wheaty aftertaste. An enjoyable beer.

Clove like spice on the nose, Sweet piney background hops on the palate with some sweet character from the yeast, more spice and cloves with a bitter finish.

Koelschtrinker (7037) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 21, 2011
Test vom 26.6.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,7,7,8,9,7 - 7,45

Golden with a nice head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt. The flavour is sweetish with notes of caramel, malt, light fruit and it’s actually very uncomplicated and rather charming. 2290

Light coppery color, medium sized yellow head. Fruity, malty, sweet and apply aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is also fruity with obvious apple and honey, medium alcohol in aftertaste warms, but not too much. Biting carbonation.

(Bottled) Deep, dark golden-amber color with a tight, white and lacy head. Honey-fruity, sweetish, slightly alcoholic aroma. Slightly roasty, somewhat alcoholic flavor with some chemicals and toffee. Medium-bodied, quite low-carbonated palate with surprisingly smooth and unnoticeable alcohol for the ABV. Wow - didn’t realize this was an ale (and of my favorite style, too). I rated it as an European Strong Lager (from a regular pint), and as such it was very good and smooth indeed. Too bad it was the only (?) bottle at the local pub, as a re-rate would be in order...

My first Polish Belgian ale. Pours neat amber with large head on top. Barley aroma, sweet malt on top aromatic hop nose, very clean. Medium to full body . Fruity front , juicy malts. Character of strong ale with dry hopped character, aromatic. Not as yeasty as it might be, more on hoppy side. Very mature for a first try.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2006 (a.k.a. Frater Blue) Orangey colour, rather thick head, partially lasting. Insignificant aroma, good taste - slightly alcoholic, strong malt flavour with honey notes. Interesting attempt at a Belgian; I think the first in Poland. Very good, one of the best mainstream beers in Poland
