3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 joe19612 (1181) - camberley, - AUG 9, 2009
Cask at GBBF 2009. A light red brown colour with a thin head. The aroma was all malt with a hint of butterscotch. Flavor is all hops and caramel, which leads, to a dry finish.

7th August 2009 GBBF. Cask. Clear dark brown beer. Good creamy head. Light dry palate. Very light malt and watery hops. Inoffensive but crushingly dull.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Benjii (2357) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 26, 2012
On cask at The Paisley Beer Festival. Pours a very dark ruby brown colour with a fair beige head. Aroma of chocolate, treacle, caramel and alcohol. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 6, 2011
First tasted this at the Brigg Inn, Barrhead in September 1982. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear dark mahogany in colour with a thin creamy white head. Very slight biscuit malt in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a slight hint of biscuit malt and sweet caramel. Slight tang of hop resins giving a dry roasted flavour which carries into the walnut note at the finish. A lovely mild and possibly the weakest ale on my list but still packs more flavour than some of the dross thats out there. Hard to find this rarity but worth seeking out.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 12, 2011
Cask, gravity, at St Neots Beer Festival ’11. Dark brown with a small white head. Meaty steak aroma, not as nice as it sounds. Neutral taste. Which is another way of saying it doesn’t really taste of much. A hint of dryness. The ABV quoted at the Festival was 2.8%. Perhaps it’s asking a bit much to expect full flavours at that gravity.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 BeerCast_Rich (1192) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 15, 2010
[cask at the 2009 Scottish Real Ale Festival] To me, milds always taste like watered-down porters – and Belhaven’s 60 shilling (which is sometimes placed in that mild bracket) is no exception. Characteristically light with the 2.9%abv yielding little flavours other than the delicate subtleties from the malt, it’s washy but slight. If you appreciate that kind of thing, this is a very decent beer – and coming from a very old recipe it has history on its side [28062009]
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 JohnRMurdoch (1565) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - OCT 7, 2010
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2010 Cask @ Troon Beer Festival. Sour grassy aroma. Medium dark brown colour. Looks a bit like cola. Mild coffee malt flavour. Watery.

Cask at GBBF 2009, 4th August 09. Deep brown with a small whitish head. Very malty aroma and taste - lots of soft toffee and biscuit flavours. Very drinkable. A good example of a dying style.
