highlandlad (1203), Sydney, Australia May 7, 2008 In particularly poor Scottish country pubs this was often the only Scottish beer available, so I drank more of it than I would have liked on a trip home in April 2008. The canned version has been dumbed down with the unfortunate addition of a nitro-widget - always a bad sign. All in all, this seemed like a shadow of its former self. The curse of Greene King continues to white-ant good beer wherever it finds it. It’s now an insipid ale, short on local character - or rather, any character. Fat nitro head, pale brown. Faint grainy aroma, sweet malts. Nitrogenated creamy body. Nutty malts, sweet toffee and minimal bitterness. Easy drinking but you feel dirty afterwards. (Draught and in can, Scotland, April 08)
yespr (7788), Copenhagen O, Denmark Nov 26, 2008 From tap at Winstons. Pours clear and golden orange with a small and dense white head. Roasted malty aroma. Light breadish flavoured with a roasted malty and slight caramelish note. On the mild dry side. Light bitter and slight citric into the finish. Palidor19 (1392), Brandon, Florida, USA Oct 6, 2008 This one is nothing special, along with the low aroma its got the normal smooth malts and low hops, its decent. Bullit (659), Glasgow, Scotland Oct 5, 2008 Can 440 ml. Amber colour, creamy white head. Aroma is weak, has grassy hops. Flavour has caramel malts. Some bitterness. Watery. madquacker (529), Canberra ACT, Australia Aug 24, 2008 Reminded me of a Boddingtons. The widget went off and a creamy white head ensued. Does have a honey colour. Abit fish oily and sweet with a few citrus notes. Could have more substance. Bragesnak (1456), Aarhus, Denmark Aug 3, 2008 The Niplick, Aucterader, Scotland.
On tap as Best, 250708.
Amber with nice head. Aroma of malt and corn crisp. Flavor of hop bitterness and caramel. Metallic note.
