2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml clear glass bottle from Tesco as part of a box of "Great British Ales". Caramel / toffee/ diacetyl aroma. Thin metallic body with some malt sweetness. Few hops. A wishy washy beer with some sweet notes. It’s a bit like an amber or dark lager. It’s drinkable, but it’s barely enjoyable.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Boxing Day 2015: clear 500ml bottle into a UK pint sleeve at home. Light mahogany brown body, off-white topping: sadly the head soon fell away to a wisp and collar very swiftly. Malts rule the aroma and taste with a hop bitterness in the finish. Thin bodied considering it’s supposed to be ’Rich, Smooth and Rounded’: not like the old 80/- Scottish beers I remember from the 1980’s which were deeper in flavour and body. .
