Disappointing. Rated this beer using a different program and unfortunately I'm not able to transfer my comments here.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
440 ml nitro-can poured into a Pint glass
Appearance....... black beer with head colour beige/white of almost 2 fingers that stays until glass is empty
Aroma............... roasted malt. Fresh and not too strong smell with a little touch of coffee aroma
Taste........ touches of coffee grain and chocolate with malt but in a light style, bitterness appears too ,lasting all the time,
Mouthfeel........... medium body and medium/soft carbonation
Overall............ a very nice stout, bitterness is present in a light style, refreshing beer too because is not full bodied as other stouts and taste is rich but moderate, perfect for summertime

Bottle from Tesco’s. Poured a deep mahogany colour with a round glass hugging head. The aroma is weak malt with a little citrus fruit. The flavour is medium to weak bitter, with roasted malt and a little refreshing light resin on the slightly light palate.

Belhaven Black Scottish Stout has a roiling foam at the pour, which sets up as a medium, creamy, cream-colored head, and it has a very dark and black appearance, but this is actually a brilliant ruby red, under direct sunlight. There is quite a bit of thick, whipped cream-like lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, deep-roasted barley and a touch of coffee. Taste is of sweet, astringent, coffee-like barley, background charcoal, chocolate powder, and just the slightest hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and velvety, and Belhaven Black Scottish Stout finishes mostly dry, sweet, and rich. Overall, this is really enjoyable, and I score it most excellent. RJT

A crispy roasted flavor with chocolate notes, but a watery aftertaste. Color is almost black with a quickly fading white head.

Can. Pours a near-black color with almost no head on it. Nose has some nice roasty elements that you really expect from a stout, though nothing particularly unique. Taste is much the same, with a little bitterness coming through. Good, but nothing remarkable.

can. near black with good nitro foam head. intense blackened malt aroma. nice mix of meaty, charred malt flavor with a hint of caramel. smooth and velvety. thick finish with medium body. i’m really like the smoky, meaty notes.
