Belhaven Black Scottish Stout really is something completely different. Bursting with roast coffee and chocolate flavours, this is a truly genuine and premium pint. Brewed using pure Scottish water and a unique blend of Scottish triple malts sourced from the finest locally grown barley.

500 ml bottle. A clear dark brown body with a nice creamy beige head. Light, but pleasant in aroma, biscuit and mild roasted malt. Flavor has also some mild roasted malt, dry fruit, some liquorice and mild bitterness. Medium body and moderate in aftertaste. A decent no nonsense, but not particular exiting beer either.

Flaske 0,5l fra ICA Stakkevollan. Drukket hjemme 8 Des 12. Veldig mørk rød. Egentlig sort. Pent, litt farget kremaktig skum som varer en stund og fester seg til glasset. Beskjeden kaffearoma. Smaken er litt kaffe & lakris - på grensen til fjøs. Litt tynn.

0.5 L clear bottle, purchased @Centra Colosseum, Oslo. Pours a translucent dark mahogny brown, under a quickly fading greyish head. Low aroma level. Faint mocha and mild roast. Dryish and clean, mild chocolate-accented malt body. Gently hopped. Softly carbonated. Smooth in the mouth. Feels full for a such a low abv beer. Short finish. Not very exciting, but flawless and a very easy drinkable beverage.

500ml bottle reviewed on xmas eve. As the name suggests its black in appearance with a thin off white head. Kind of burnt smoky aroma which is quite pleasant on winter’s night. The taste is dry, mildly hoppy with liquorice and chocolate notes mostly present. On the palate it isn’t too creamy unlike a number of other stouts and is actually quite thin. A decent sessionable beer.

Aroma of burnt toffee and charcoal. Flavour is nice, bittersweet and full of roasted malt with a hint of caramel. Has a light carbonation and a thin texture.

Bottle from an Oslo supermarket. Cola color, fluffy beige head. Rogasted grain aroma. Toast, grain, a hint of rye bread, dry hops in the background. Not pretentious, but nice.

Bottle from Tesco Aromas - Black coffee, charcoal, dark roasted malts, hint of dark chocolate/cocoa. Taste - Not a lot of bitterness. Smooth but quite mild and watery. Light roasted flavour. Little bit of caramel. Not a lot to this. Inoffensive but a bit dull.

Bottle. Black beer large beige head. Coffee aroma a little sweet. Taste is of chocolate and coffee with roasted malts. Palate is too carbonated for my taste. An OK stout but there are a lot better out there.

Bottle: Not really black, but deep ruby-amber coloured with a small and persistent off-white foamy layer, not outspoken dtry fruity and roasty-toasty nose, mild but distinctive traces of cacao detectable; dryish bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; dryish bitter-malty to ashy finish. A good brew...
