Belhaven Black Scottish Stout really is something completely different. Bursting with roast coffee and chocolate flavours, this is a truly genuine and premium pint. Brewed using pure Scottish water and a unique blend of Scottish triple malts sourced from the finest locally grown barley.

Pleasant though somewhat weak flavor. No bitterness, but not a whole lot else either. I’d drink it in preference to some other stouts, but it is really just meh.

[Bottle (500ml)] Pours a very dark brown with an average size diminishing frothy tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate, a hint of coffee, some vanilla and dark fruit. Mild, slightly watery flavour follows the aroma along with a hint of hops in the finish -- decent but too mild. Average bodied. Not great, just good overall.

A colabrown beer with an almost medium and beige head. The nose is strongly roasted, black coffee, some chocolate and ryebread. Not totally dry. Taste of roastiness, some bready malts, not very dry, some chocolate and black coffee. Barely light+ bodied, mild and smooth carbonation. Easy and harmless Stout. Anyway, nice complexicity.

Aroma has roastiness, toffee and some English hops. Flavour has toffee, some roasted notes, hay and English hops. Just too English.

This one does not offer a great range of taste or aroma. A bit roasted malt, lots of water and some nuts. Maybe. Disappointing and watery. Nothing special.

Can with draught flow. Amazing creamy head and black color. Slightly roasted aroma. Chocolate notes. A bit sweet with light bitter finish. Some sour notes. Better than Guinness.

Can @ home. Black with a large beige head. Taste is of roasted malts, chocolate and a touch of fruits. Very smooth with a slightly dry aftertaste. The cask version is sightly better than it is on can, but despite its watery texture it is quite drinkable. This is IMHO as good as a Guinness.

Pours out in a deep black colour with low head and medium body. Aroma of torf and malt. Taste of intense malt, woods, dark grains and torf. Very earthy and leathery finish. Okay but just not that nice.

500 mL bottle in a mixed pack from LCBO shared by my bro served cold in a tulip glass. Deep ruby black with a thin tan head. Tight when cold, a little roasted malt character, a little vinous, wood notes, a wee bit of molasses, stark. Medium body, fairly lively carbonation. Similar to the nose with some roasted barley, somewhat vinous, very light wood and fruitiness, a little molasses, doesn’t offer much; dry with minimal bitterness and a vinous, slightly roasty finish.
