COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belhaven Black Scottish Stout really is something completely different. Bursting with roast coffee and chocolate flavours, this is a truly genuine and premium pint.

ARH (806) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 25, 2015
On cask, poured into an english pint. The aroma is fairly strong, roasted and smokey, with undertones of caramel, chocolate, and nuts. It pours a dark, deep mahogany color and is topped by a whipped, dense tan cream head that has great retention and lace. The taste is a medium bitter and light sweet with a touch of umami. The texture is creamy, but thin, with a very soft and smooth carbonation and a medium light body containing smokey flavors, nuts, and chocolate. It finishes smooth and a bit burnt, with a light, woody spice slight, a slight molasses, and a hint of lactose which all cleans nicely and leaves a pleasant, mild spice, chocolate chip cookie, and fig aftertaste thatís light, but lingers.

Tessic (926) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 14, 2015
This stout poured a deep, dark Amber colour with a beautiful, creamy, tan coloured head. Scents of molasses, caramel and coffee. First swig was smooth with a thin mouthfeel. Flavours of roasted malt and coffee most prominent. Finish is nice and toasty...

User-friendly inoffensive stout. Not too heavy, bitter, smokey etc. Doesnít impress but drinkable.

chinchill (2901) - South Carolina, USA - APR 27, 2015
On tap in Elie, Fife. Thick creamy head looks like a nitro tap. . Aroma: Dominated by dank and earthy English hops. Disappointing. The flavor is quite fine. Somehow the hops fade to the background, excepting the mild-moderate bitterness. Solid dark malt flavor with just faint hints of coffee.

Draught (nitro) @ Albion. Dark brown with reddish tint, small creamy beige head, no aroma at all, low carbonation, thin body, sweetish caramel taste, abrupt finish. Not a particularly impressive stout.

Svart med lavt hvitt skum. Aroma er lakris, rÝstet malt og noe sjokolade. Smaken er lakris og litt sjokolade. Tynn konsistens med en mild bitterhet til.

Taste is what can be appreciated with the tongue. Itís easy to mistake aromas for tastes -- the tongue only senses sweet, bitter, sour, salt and umami. Click on a term below to add it to your tasting notes.
