Benzai (8224) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - SEP 6, 2014
Sampled @ GBBF day 3. Clear dark brown color, no head. Smell and taste are a bit flat and a bit faint, lightly roasty, lightly bitter, but something really annoying and not very nice in there. Don’t like it at all.

From cask. Pours clear and golden deep amber to brown with a small off white head. Aroma is roasted malty and breadish. Mild acidic and roasted dark malty. Citric and dry malty finish.

Rich chocolate, coffee aromas from a pitch black body with a creamy tan head rich sweet smooth chocolate taste, one of the best.

On tap at pub Franke’s, Göteborg. Black with thick white head. Smell is sweet malty and some smoke. Taste is nice maltiness with perfect peat smoke in balance. Low bitterness and smooth.

NikkTwist (1624) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 25, 2014
Cask pour at Khyber Pass. Pulled nearly black, but appears as a dark clear red under bright light. Soft off-white head that became a lasting thick foamy ring. Some smoke in the nose. Body feels medium-full, but reads watery for a stout. Mild burnt coffee notes. Leather. Charcoal. Maybe some walnut and molasses. Just a hint of dark cocoa. Soft smokey meat flavors. Sensing more rauche than most Scottish Stouts. Easy drinking without being slight. Good but not exceptional.

Cask Half Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Apr 2013 during Spoons Festival - Black in colour with Reddish tinge. Malty; roasty malts, caramel, coffee, hint of chocolate. Hoppy; some hop bitterness. Fruity; some dark fruits. Roasty malty throughout. Fairly thin but very drinkable.

Cask. Deep ambery brown colour (not far from black) with a mediumized foamy off-white head, that leaves some lace as well. Flavour is toasted malts, mild ashy notes along with chocolate and coffee as well as some slight ripe fruitiness. Flavour is rather similar, but also has a nice bitterness towards the finish. Wellbalanced, and feels quite more bigger than just 4.2 %.

Tap @ Cloisters. Black with a large beige head. Taste is of roasted malts, chocolate and a touch of fruits. Slightly dry aftertaste. Very smooth and a bit watery texture, but easily drinkable. This is IMHO as good as a Guinness.

Cask handpump at The Jericho Tavern, Oxford, Saturday 23rd November 2013 Pours very dark brown in colour. A little cocoa on nose and then some cocoa combines with a some tangy fruit in mouth with a smoother milk chocolate finish. Not an awful lot to say about this beer but its ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1
