COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belhaven Black Scottish Stout really is something completely different. Bursting with roast coffee and chocolate flavours, this is a truly genuine and premium pint.

Black stout. Burnt malt aroma. Taste is similar but with a fruity undertone. Quite drinkable.

User-friendly inoffensive stout. Not too heavy, bitter, smokey etc. Doesn’t impress but drinkable.

On tap in Elie, Fife. Thick creamy head looks like a nitro tap. . Aroma: Dominated by dank and earthy English hops. Disappointing. The flavor is quite fine. Somehow the hops fade to the background, excepting the mild-moderate bitterness. Solid dark malt flavor with just faint hints of coffee.

Draught (nitro) @ Albion. Dark brown with reddish tint, small creamy beige head, no aroma at all, low carbonation, thin body, sweetish caramel taste, abrupt finish. Not a particularly impressive stout.

Svart med lavt hvitt skum. Aroma er lakris, røstet malt og noe sjokolade. Smaken er lakris og litt sjokolade. Tynn konsistens med en mild bitterhet til.

Taste is what can be appreciated with the tongue. It’s easy to mistake aromas for tastes -- the tongue only senses sweet, bitter, sour, salt and umami. Click on a term below to add it to your tasting notes.

Beese (2560) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 11, 2014
Cask at The Falcon, Battersea on 19 May 2012. Poured jet black, with a big, dense beige head. Aroma of cocoa, roasted malt and dark fruits. Smooth mouthfeel. Big dark malt flavour, with some molasses and not particularly strong coffee. Finish was light burnt malt, treacle and dates.

Cask conditioned at Jude the Obscure, Jericho, Oxford. Black with cream head. Initially quite fruity with a cherry / strawberry hint on a lightly charred malt. A hint of chocolate edges in onto the palate giving a reasonable depth. Reasonable.
