Belhaven Black Scottish Stout really is something completely different. Bursting with roast coffee and chocolate flavours, this is a truly genuine and premium pint.

Black stout. Burnt malt aroma. Taste is similar but with a fruity undertone. Quite drinkable.

Pint at the pub in Lochaline in June 2016. Pours almost black in colour. Aroma - bags of cocoa and a little espresso. Also some fruity notes. Rather lighter than an average stout, and somewhat watery, but very drinkable for that.

I thought it to be a very good brew...though not as thick as I prefer a stout to be. The can I had was widget loaded and I wasnít aware...bold pour, nice looking and a fair drink. I would drink it again. It is one of the prettiest "loaded" brews Iíve ever seen. ***I see I have mistakenly rated a can on this entry. I wasnít aware of what (cask) meant and didnít realize there was a better choice to review.

Cask at Le Bon Bock in Rome-Italy, paired with oysters. Black pour with some brownish highlights, super creamy head never ending. Nose: fishy, delicate roast, elegant! Mouth: flat carbo, watery roast, mild tea hops! Just great! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very light bitter chocolate aroma, you would expect much more from a stout. Watery texture, transparent brown color, beige foam. Waterish, light body, lightly roasted. Not a bad finish, one can feel mild acidity

On tap @Le Bon Bock (Rome). Pours deep brown with a medium and persistent creamy beige head. Aroma is delicate roasty, chocolate biscuits, cocoa powder, nuts. Flavour is delicate too, soft roasted malts sweetness balanced by a delicate bitter end. Light body, soft carbonation. Simple and fine.

Bottle. Black with long lasting white head. Roasted malt aroma. Taste is roasted with hints of fruit, hops and nuts, but mostly roasted. Watery.

Bottle 0,5l from Interspar supermarket in Koper, Slo. Dark brown transparent liquid, average beige head. Medium to light body, a bit too carbonated. Roast and some coffee and cocoa in taste, some sourness and metal. Drinkable but too carbonated for my taste.

Nitro can. The pour is a beautiful show. Very creamy attractive tan head. Smell is a malty beverage. Flat. Yes, could never get used to a completely flat beer. Feels like it set out overnight. Taste is mild and quite civilized stout, probably comes across like a very mild sweet stout. Easy going and a little weak. If this had some co2 effects in there I would give it at least a 4.5. Very few ill effects except for the lack of carbonation, but that cutting sizzle is a very important part of the enjoyment.

Typical nitro can stout. Looks really cool when poured into a glass and it even smells good, but then there is everything else. Some flavors of chocolate and coffee as advertised but itís thin, watery, and flat. If it was warmed up it would be a cup of mocha. Still not a fan of the watered down stouts with the nitro.
