3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Originally rated on 3/29/14. Found this one on tap at the Wayside Pub... This poured out as a nice deep blackish brown color with a decent tan head on top, that left some really nice thick lace. The smell has some light chocolate and some earthy roasted aromas. The taste of the beer is on the sweeter side, with the chocolate, roasted notes kinda dry it out. The mouthfeel isnít overly heavy at all, itís probably medium bodied and has a light amount of carbonation. Overall this beer is pretty decent.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the Beer House Chicago in Lombard, IL., and nitro pushed to a flight glass, displaying a clear, ruby highlighted, brown tone, after the cascading show, with a persistent, mousse-like layer of light brownish tan head foam, and curtainy cling to the lacing. The aroma was a tough read past the stubborn foam, but finally offered some roasted, mocha notes, subtle smoke, light caramel sweetness, and smooth malt. Light to medium bodied, with soft carbonation, and some subtle creaminess to the mouthfeel, the flavor was similar notes as the nose, but even less pronounced, with a bit of thin, watery texture. Quite drinkable, with a mild, Guinness-like nature that was a familiar blast from the past.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours very dark, almost opaque red/brown.
Very thin head and lacing, head quickly dissipates leaving a thin, even lacing.
Carbonation is almost flat and palate is watery.
Similar to Guinness with a sweeter finish and less complexity and mouth feel.
Gifted from a friend.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at Winking Lizard. Pitch black pour with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and slight coffee. Light-bodied with a roasty malt and chocolate character, with some earthy coffee in the background. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
