Cask at the Wharf. A clear deep golden beer with some white bubbles on top. Malt dominates the aroma, with some pine cones and grapefruit. Caramel notes. It’s medium bodied and semi-dry on the palate, with a very soft carbonation. Some caramel malts and a little bitterness in the flavor. Some pine cones too. Long piney finish. 150301

Cask handpull at the Six Bells, Cambridge. Dark gold/copper, with a decent sized static off-white head. Citrus hop, plywood, a bit of sulphur in the aroma. Bitter taste, with some hard citrus sourness at the end. A pleasantly above average bitter.

Mid-amber with a slight but noticeable English hop nose. Is actually quite bitter from mid-mouth onwards and the finish surprisingly long. Completely different palate to the soggy stodginess which typifies the products of Greene King’s HQ brewery. I could get used to it...

Cask conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton 13/03/13. An orangey gold coloured beer with a whitish head and lace. Reasonable malty notes in the nose. Insipid in the mouth. Lightly fruity but poorly palateable. Really not very tasty.

[cask at the King’s Head, Enfield] Clear golden ale with a decent white head. Aroma is hay-like, bready and slightly sweet. Some caramel on the flavour, as the beer starts quite sweet. After a while, faint citrus edges tingle inwards. Finish is long and, again, slightly sweet [08032013]
