Cask at The Noel Arms, Oakham on 28 Dec 2012. Poured a clear dark amber colour, with a rocky off white head. Aroma of sweet malts, ripe berries and slight spice. Sweet flavours of toffee, shortbread biscuits and peal. Finish was rough bitterness, burnt sugar and cooked fruit.

Cask @ George & Dragon, Bedford. Mid brown with a hint of mahogany. Lively little fellow, once it settles I progress to drinking. Aroma of fruit (cherries?), biscuity malt and cinnamon. Taste is bittersweet with a bit of sour, confused and unsatisfying. Maybe not in best condition but pretty uninspiring so it doesn’t matter all that much.

Slightly sour bitter with hints of strawberry, citrus and sweets. Drinkable but not one I’d pick again.

Cask at The Outlook, Reading. Amber-brown with no head. Sweet from the off- toffee overlaid with lots of blackcurrants, along with a hint of spice. There’s a reasonable amount of earthy bitterness afterwards, but not quite enough to balance. OK as a novelty Christmas beer for half a pint, but a full pint might be more of a struggle.

Cask. Dark brown beer with creamy head. Smells of berries- strawberry/plum smell. Tastes of berries too, with slight sour/bitter taste. Decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at the Cleveland Arms, London. Pours clear copper with a somewhat flimsy, tan cream head. Sweet, ripe berries in the nose, some plums and strawberries. Light to medium swet flavor with lightly toasted bread, very light bitterness, light dry berries. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Light sweet finish with more semi-dry berries and mellow bitterness. Faint leaves, cherries, plums. A very decent bitter.

On cask at the Holyrood 9A. Pours an amber colour with a decent beige head. Fruity aroma of strawberry, caramel, alcohol and light apple. Similar flavours, quite musty and yeasty, with apple again. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Just a little sweet too.

Cask @ The Pear Tree, Edinburgh. Dark reddish brown colour, good head. Fruity caramel malt aroma. Fruity slightly spicy flavour, bitter aftertaste. Served a bit cold but still a good winter bitter.

On tap @ Bert’s Bar. Pours mahogany with a nicely proportioned head. The nose has sweet fruit, possibly strawberries or apple tart. The taste is of strawberries and biscuits - jammy dodgers in fact. The palate is medium in structure and texture with a dry finish. Overall, a good ale!
