Cask conditioned at The Old Windmill, Coventry. Copper with white head. Caramel malts with hints of strawberry and bubblegum flavour. Not great but drinkable.

On cask at the Holyrood 9A. Pours an amber colour with a decent beige head. Fruity aroma of strawberry, caramel, alcohol and light apple. Similar flavours, quite musty and yeasty, with apple again. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Just a little sweet too.

Cask @ The Pear Tree, Edinburgh. Dark reddish brown colour, good head. Fruity caramel malt aroma. Fruity slightly spicy flavour, bitter aftertaste. Served a bit cold but still a good winter bitter.

On tap @ Bert’s Bar. Pours mahogany with a nicely proportioned head. The nose has sweet fruit, possibly strawberries or apple tart. The taste is of strawberries and biscuits - jammy dodgers in fact. The palate is medium in structure and texture with a dry finish. Overall, a good ale!

JDW Rochester - Saturday breakfast. Dark beer. Smoky and smooth. Pleasantly bitter-sweet. Very drinkable.

Cask at the Magpie, red-brown with toffee and hints of strawberry and lemon on the nose, a good body with more toffee and some dark fruit. Nice, though a bit lightweight for a winter warmer.

Cask at the London & County (JDW), Eastbourne. Copper with a dense cream head; candy aroma; sweet, fruity, toffee flavour; with a lightly bitter finish. Acceptable, but not exciting.

Cask handpull at County Hotel JDW Ashford. Reddish brown clear lasting beige bubbly head. Its a bitter with some biscuit. Some fruit. Its fine. Not huge hop. Touch of sting on the finish. Decent condition. Fine.

Cask, Highcross, Leicester. Dark copper with a firm cream foam. Aromas are weetabix and light chocolate malts. Cream with raisins and bready yeast. Flavours are sweet toffee malts with chocolate. Dry black tea with light spices. An OK bitter.
