3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 hershiser2 (1006) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - AUG 7, 2005
Amberish with a decent head. Floral, sweet aroma and flavor. Pretty sweet, finishes slightly bitter... pretty tasty. I’d say it’s more of an IPA (as is in its name) than a bitter (as it’s listed). Flavorful and a good summertime brew.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 mephisto (1253) - TAIWAN - AUG 5, 2005
draft. amber color w/ little head. floral aroma, medium bodied. 4%? isn’t that too light for an ipa?
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Ungstrup (23918) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 23, 2005
[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2004] An orange beer with a fine but disappearing head. The aroma is quite flowery hoppy. The flavor is sweet malty with a slight note of fruit and also only a slight bitter end. A boring IPA.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Hildigöltur (5107) - København, DENMARK - APR 13, 2005
[Cask conditioned] Golden coloured. Unpleasant rubber aroma. Buttery flavour. Weak.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 rauchbier (3203) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - NOV 3, 2004
Cask, GBBF 2004. Gold, poor head and low condition. Good citric hoppy nose with hints of chalkiness, sweet malt and gentle hops in the mouth and a grainy finish with lingering hop bitterness.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 chriso (7063) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 11, 2004
Courtesy of Ungstrup at GBBF 2004. I was astonished to find that this is the first Belhaven beer I have rated. Standard copper session bitter colour. Sulphurous aroma, with a bit of floweriness hiding in the background. Dry and easy drinking Nothing really leaps out in the flavour department. Unexceptional. Cask.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 SilkTork (4736) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - AUG 8, 2004
GBBF. Clean, dusty, cardboardy, dull session bitter of little character or interest. The phrase poor quality comes to mind.
