Can from local Sake Marche. Crude malty nose, lots of sugariness, sweet dark dark. Dark slightly translucent reddish/brown color, with a thick creamy beige head. Caramel, sugar, some dark fruit, very bland sort of candyish maltiness. Thin body. Wayyyy sweet, light and sugary.

0.5 l can with a nitro gadget as McCallmum’s Sweet Scottish Stout from K-Citymarket Ojamo, Lohja. Looks nice as with the great nitro head. Taste is malty and smooth and sweet as would be expected from the name. Not sugary or too sweet. Well, if you like to have a dry stout, forget this one.

the aroma is caramel and fruity with hints of vanilla, milk chocolate and nuts... the taste is caramel with notes of sweet chocolate, dark fruits, toffee and candy... sweet and, a little bit, spicy aftertaste...

Colore nero con riflessi rossastri, molta schiuma. Odore di malto tostato, liquirizia. Poco frizzante, sapore di malto tostato, biscotto, dolce. Leggera e con poco corpo, non molto gustosa e leggermente acquosa.

Stout is a stout type of beer to be dark because of the roasted malt. But there is no ’rules’ to whether it should be decidedly black, for how much roasting the malt must decide only master brewer. This stout is certainly not among the darkest - but it may still be a stout anyway. The aroma suggests slightly roasted malt and the taste is lightly smoked. Moreover, the very sweet caramel malt, and probably what I would describe as sweet. But I can still sense its stout character. I do prefer a smoky, angular stout - and it’s McCallum’s not.
