3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Brought from Scotland, 500ml,typical brown Belhaven bottle.Painting of the poet on the label.
Quite a nice looking ale poured into the imperial pint mug.It isdark amber with a luscious bubbly/frothy light tan head.Great lacing down the glass as I drink.
Aroma is of malts,quite nutty.
Nice tasting ale,its quite "clean" compared to most Scottish ales, meaning the malts arent quite so upfront sweet this seems a more balanced Scottish ale..the malts being somewhat driven back by some hops. Long lasting tobacco like after taste ( nice pipe tobacco).
This is quite highlycarbonated compared to your typical Scot ale..thoughit works rather well on the palate.
I found this to be an excellent drinking beer, not overlly complex but supremely enjoyable.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml bottle. Golden amber colour with a frothy off-white head. Smoky, toffee, and lightly nutty aroma. Caramel, brown sugar, bread, and lightly smoky flavour. Medium bodied and smooth. About halfway between Belhaven’s Scottish Ale and Wee Weavy - almost seems like a mix of the two.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Light brown coloured with thin head. There are hints of smokiness and good rusty notes, but as a whole it’s too sweet and light. Not the best Belhaven.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 11, 2004 (on tap)To just watch this beer set, is a treat. When the whole glass sets and becomes drinkable, it contains alot of heat and smoke aromas. The taste is to the sweet and easy- swallowing side, and the low alcohol keeps it´s smooth all the way through a pint. I recomend it to beginners and who´s not a such...?
RERATED: I just had a few pints and had to give Robert a knack down here.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sweet, fruity, peaty, and lightly smoked. All this is very plesant, but there is hardly any bitterness in the finish which makes it too sweet and short for me. My mother loved it though! :o)
