3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 BeerCast_Rich (1687) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 25, 2011
[500ml bottle] Pours a dark caramel colour with a very generous white head. Rich, toffee aroma – plenty of sweetness on the nose. May not exactly be ’poetry in a glass’ as claimed, but the malt balance is good enough, and although quite sweet, there’s no sickly molasses-heavy aftertaste that befuddle many of its contemporaries. Burns was fond of ’reaming swats’, and I think he would approve of this one [25012009]
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Oakes (10941) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - AUG 5, 2011
Golden-brown colour with a thin head and a nice sparkle. Malt-accented and slightly fruity aroma. Caramelly and slightly earthy palate. Fairly tastey for a supermarket brew. I’d rather it live, but it was good enough pasteurized.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Koelschtrinker (8481) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 21, 2011
