Chiswick (159) - Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 21, 2011
UPDATED: APR 24, 2011 Aroma: at first, it’s a little bit creamy. oak, wood in general, hoppy bitter. Appearance is solid, almost no head except for right after you’ve poured it; I nice creamy head stays on for a while. Overall colour is very nice. Very clear liquid. I liked the old belhaven bottles way more than these new slim ones. Taste is surprisingly complex, but not strong with character. An oaky, hoppy bitter taste, with a creamy character and a special taste that I can’t really point out. It’s something of a liquorice character, but with a bit more "stinging", very interesting indeed. I have to find out what this taste is.. isn’t that strongly present in the aroma. The liquid itself is very clear and light, doesn’t really take control over your mouth. A little bit creamy, but that comes with the taste. Carbonation is low and fits nicely with the ale. The finish is bitter in a nice spicy way. Not the best from belhaven, but a very nice ale with special characters. Every bottle of this I have tasted has been a little bit different.

0.5L bottle, courtesy of Rune. Brilliant deep amber body, low fine-bubbled beige top. A light smell of peppery caramel and leafy hops. Taste has a sugary malt-sweetness with some apple notes, and a modest hop bitterness. Light to medium full. Sourish fruit tones in sweetish, light watery ending.

500ml bottle. Pours dark copper with a full off-white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of caramel malts and fruits. Taste is much of the same, stronger on the malts, weaker on the fruit, with a bit of hoppiness in the end. Light on the palate. An alright beer, very drinkable though not at these prices (four euros a bottle).

0.5 l bottle from K-Länsiväylä, Jyväskylä. Darkish amber color. Tart and resiny hop aroma with nutty maltiness and hint of chocolate. Sweet nutty and toffeish flavor with tart fruity and resiny hops. Balancing bitterness in finish. OK sweet bitter.

Bottled. A nut brown coloured beer with a short-lived off-white head. The aroma has nuts and fruit and sweet malts. Fruit in the mouth with a tiny amount of nuttiness. Definitely malt dominated sweetness.

500 ml bottle. Clear reddish coppery brown colur, thin off-white head. Sweetish fruity, malty aroma with some wood and hops. The flavour is caramel-malty, fruity, with a mild, hoppy finish. Quite nice.

Bottled, 500ml from Burg Bieren, Ermelo, Netherlands. Amber with white head. Are Belhaven having to use G.K raw materials & yeast, this has many of their trade mark flavours. Slightly musty, tea like yeasty note, autumnal fruit and a fungal hint. I wouldn’t be really surprised if this was produced in Bury St Edmunds.

inbirraveritas (1306) - Budapest, HUNGARY - SEP 24, 2010
Tükrös gesztenyebarna/borostyán színű ale, vékony piszkosfehér színű habbal a tetején, mely aztán fátyolosan megmarad.
