3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Mahogany brown and clear. Lots of dark malts. Moderate sweetness. Well balanced. Good but lacks a bit of oomph!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask. Medium brown. Medium light brown head. The aroma is mellow, fruity. The taste is weak, but extremely ill with tartness and plum/peach/citrus. Pretty perfect.

I do not normally drink beer before nine in the morning, but. Pint of this at Stanstead Airport with a Bacon Butty in the Wetherspoons before our flight woke me up nicely. Hand-pulled into a UK sleeve it has a pleasant looking mahogany body with a cream coloured topping. Malts all the way here, nutty notes along with semi-sweet molasses in both the nose and taste. Very similar to the bottle variety, but better in cask form.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma of toffee, brown sugar, a little whisky, slight raisin and subtle spicy hops. Taste of toffee, some whisky, slight dark fruit, subtle raisin, a little sulphur and spicy hops. Light bodied and soft carbonation. A sweet, toffee finish. Maybe itís the condition but the sulphur and subtle sourness put me well off. Taking that out, itís just a sweet, malty, scotch style bitter.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Brown with cream head. Something of a mish mash of a beer, there is a definite caramelised malt sugar character, toffee with just a hint of spicing. A little claggy on the palate, sticky. Hopefully not a real taste of Scotland. Dubious.
