pkbites (309), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jan 23, 2009 Mine was the "drought" version from a can. Maybe that means something as it said it was 5.2% alcohol as compared to the 3.9 this web site claims. If it’s the same stuff, a correction needs to be made. Mine was one of the best smelling brews EVER. I mean EVER!! Like fresh cookie dough and caramel! The ale itself looked like freshly made caramel with a creamy beige head that lasted forever and ever. Very little carbonation on the palate. This was as smooth as silk on the tongue and slid down the throat like melted caramel that was waiting for apples to be dunked in it. Have I used the work caramel too many times? Or not enough? Some smokiness, but not overpowering. The yeasty head floats on top the ale, not in an ice cream scoop manner, but in a veil like consistency. This fills your mouth up with a Dairy Queen double malt feel and leaves a light, yet slightly bitter, after-taste. It makes a thick "glop" sound as you pour more into your glass. It leaves an almost sententious form of lacing. This is not a beer to slam, but one to slowly savor like a quivering clitoris. Very, VERY nice! DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Jan 19, 2009 On tap at Redlight.Pours brown with a creamy head.Peat and caramel nose.Flavor was creamy with some smokey notes and slightly malty.A nice creamy mouthfeel with small chocolatey notes. QMeister (5), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jan 12, 2009 12 oz Bottle Nice dark color and good slightly smokey taste. Smooth with a lingering taste. Was quite enjoyable but I would not follow it with another. TaydaTot (18), Minnesota, USA Jan 12, 2009 44cl nitro-can 5.2 abv. Pours a muddy beachwood brown. Modest creamy nitro head. Aroma is tame. Butterscotch, sweet roasty malt. Flavor is similar to aroma. A bit of tin or coin flavor was noted but not necessarily distasteful. Mouth feel is interesting. Nitro beers seem a little strange to me. Feels a little flat, watery but rounded mouth feel from the diacetyl. Pretty tame beer. Very drinkable due to the nitrogen and mellow flavor. Nothing remarkable. drjay44 (758), Salida, Colorado, USA Jan 11, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a thickish tan head of good duration, some lacing, over a slightly cloudy copper colored body.....nose is of malts....flavor is almost entirely of malts, not much sweetness...mouth feel is light and thin pleasant enough, but rather light overall. I agree with those who say the can is better. I rated it 3.1. exiledmsh (15), , Alabama, USA Jan 10, 2009 Updated: Jun 23, 2009I liked this. Too bad it’s not as easy to find as othes. But if you do find it, get it in the can, with the pressurized widget. Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 9, 2009 On tap. Poured a thick frothy white head of a translucent copper body with nice lacing. Very sweet aroma of malt, somewhat like Guinness. Tastes very sweet, roast barely makes a strong presence, slight chocolate undertones. Palate is watery, too watery. Had a friend try it and said it tasted like a cigarette dropped in tap water. Damn I thought, that’s exactly right. I expected better. pjweaver (133), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 4, 2009 Pint glass from bottle
Crisp cheap lager aroma. No real distinguishing characteristics. Pours a dark caramel with a foamy white head. Bitter boring flavor, slightly sweet yuengling. Disappointing, blah palate, bubbly and tangy.
