MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Jun 16, 2008 Pint on nitro - Mild aroma of toasted malts and toffee. Pours transparent brown with a medium lasting nitro head. Flavor is malty, sweet toffee and caramel with a touch of nutiness. Palate is creamy and smooth. Nothing to get excited about, but tasty enough to go well with my meal. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 14, 2008 12oz bottle-pours a rich light tan head and amber/red color. Aroma is medium malt, some earthy/spice hops. Taste is medium malt-sweet caramel/some honey, secondary earthy/spicy hops, nutty, some peat, grainy mouth feel. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Jun 10, 2008 Bottle at ÅBF08. Hint of malt, slightly rough. Clear dark golden colour. Very small white head. rustychiles (1007), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 4, 2008 Nitro Can.
Pours a creamy nitro foamy white color that slowly fades to a translucent reddish brown color. Aroma of caramel, malt, grains, fruit. Flavor is fruit, caramel, malt sweetness and some bitterness at the finish. budweiserblows (31), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Jun 3, 2008 12oz. bottle. I loved it. It’s a great, very drinkable, ale. While a bit weaker than what I prefer in an ale, it’s so smooth and finishes so cleanly that it makes up for what it lacks in power. Rciesla (3510), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Jun 1, 2008 Bottle. Pours an amber body with a 1/2" white head. Aroma is malty and grain and so is the flavor of this one. Dry malt and grain. Very plain. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA May 30, 2008 Pours from the can into my 25cl tulip with a creamy, tight, light tan colored head that stars out a fat two-fingers in height. The beer is a brilliantly clear, red-stained, deep amber color that shows a cranberry-red tinged, deep copper color when held up to the light. The aroma has a nice berry-like fruitiness to it up front, but becomes more toffee like once I start to focus on the aroma. Malt aromas of crushed crackers, lightly toasted bread and some hop & / or malt notes of grass and very faint herbs.
Lightly sweet tasting, which accents a nice, soft berry (currant & faint blackberry) character as well as caramelized malt flavors. Quite smooth as the widget clearly knocked out all of the carbonation, this is very light and quaffable as well. Finishes with an almost menthol-like, very faint herbal hop character and a touch of bitterness. There is some light, dry grain character towards the finish that provides hints of crushed saltine crackers and a touch of toasty grain character.
This gets a bit fuller and more flavorful as it warms up a bit; nothing overwhelming, but it is certainly a beer I would have again. While not overly flavorful, it does have a nice mix of notes that keep this an interesting tipple.
