Brownish red, nice head. Taste is more malty than hoppy, but pretty balanced. Didn’t catch my attention like Smithwick’s, but still, an overall decent Scottish ale.

Clear and bright red with a generous head that stayed strong and left very nice lacing. Bread and toffee were clear in the aroma, with a touch of smokiness. Same with the taste, which also included subtle caramel and hops that resulted in a well-balanced beer. Slightly slick on the tongue, but very drinkable. Glad it’s only 3.9% so I can have a few.

12 ounce bottle- pours a deep golden amber with a persistent gold tinted head. Aroma was mildly citrus with caramel. This ale immediately fills the mouth like a good stout. Very creamy texture. Taste is all caramel and smoke with a crisp, clean finish and a warm belly-glow to follow. Excellent.

6er of 12oz bottles. Not quite the brew its big brother (the Belhaven Wee Heavy) is but still good nonethless. And a fantastic session brew at just about 4%abv. Nose is Apple, caramel and chocolate with some wheat bread. Up front it is pure Scotch Ale with big notes of caramel and molasses with a really nice chocolate note and a touch of smoke.. The finish is slightly bitter with a lingering bready finish and reminiscent of a english beer. This is almost like a cross between their Wee Heavy and Newcastle. It doesn’t have the mild malty backbone or the long caramel finish of the Wee Heavy but its easy drinking, low ABV and easy to find.

12 oz. bottle courtesy/share with Naka. Pours light red with foamy white head, small and quickly dissipating. Nose is fruity, apple and peach with a touch of caramel and biscuit. Lots of fruit, raisin and plum, some lighter notes of pear and slight peach. Big on caramel and toffee. Clean, crisp, mild bitter that lingers into the after with some yeasty, bready quialities along with a slight alcohol warmth. Good mouthfeel. Tasty brew that’s really drinkable.

Pours a clear amber color with a small fizzy white head that dissipates quickly. A rich caramel aroma that has some sweet apple and over ripe banana in it. A sort of stale toffee / molasses flavor with fruit like nectarines and apples. A solid bitter dry finish. Has an outstanding creamy mouthfeel that owes a lot ot the carbonation.
