Moshe (8), Rhode Island, USA does not count Sep 13, 2009 this is a very enjoyable if not complex brew. Creamy smooth with a nutty, malty flavor. Frovigalning (398), , Sweden Sep 13, 2009 It poured a dark liquid with a small light brown foam. It smelled of butter scotch and tasted of chocolate and something burned. ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Sep 11, 2009 Amber with a small white head. Aroma of caramel and toffee with cardboard notes. Sweet and boring caramel flavour dkachur (2319), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 8, 2009 Served on nitro at Mellow Mushroom in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a typical nitro head. Creamy with good retention and lacing. Aroma is caramel malts with a light hoppiness. Taste is caramel, leafy hops and a light fruity note. Lightly tart throughout. Medium bodied, popery (133), San Francisco, California, USA Sep 5, 2009 A better than expected Scottish ale. This beer pours a medium amber with a cascading head from the nitro widget. I like the look, but that’s probably just because of some remaining Guinness love/brainwashing. The aroma is sweet and mild for a Scottish ale. The flavor has a good balance of pleasant hops, doughy malt and caramelization. I enjoy it, but I’m not a huge fan of Scottish ales, so take that for what you will. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Drinkability is quite good for my tastes because it’s not as sweet as many other Scottish ales. bigguns22 (88), Maryland, USA Sep 2, 2009 I love this beer.Look sounds funny but has feel of soda,Sweet, caramel and alittle bitter O don’t forget malt. broozer81 (63), , New Jersey, USA Aug 31, 2009 True to tradition, very smooth, creamy scottish ale..nice malt, nut flavor, touch of hops present..not to complex of a brew but still a nice drinkable one.... kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Aug 29, 2009 Can via Hagen. Pours a clear copper with an average sized off white nitro head. Nose is sweet malt. Taste is toasted malts, caramel, pears, nuts, biscuits, and some herbal hops. Body is medium. Bittersweet finish/aftertaste. Reminds me almost of a scotch ale, although it is classified here as a bitter. Whatever, I have not had enough of either style to really make a call, but it does remind me of many of the lower abv scotch ales i have had.
