Brown ale with a malty, fruity aroma; half inch off-white head; sweet flavor with a bit too much bitterness; short, mostly bitter finish.

Super creamy palate. Nutty, smoky malt. Sweet woody smoke flavor. Light hints of earthy mossy hops riding in the back. Nice balanced beer. I’d be more inclined to call this a Scottish Ale than a Bitter. Hell, I really like this stuff.

One of the best ales I’ve had, on tap, at the House of Guinness in Waukesha. Pours a deep brown, caramely color with a respectable, creamy head. Malty in the nose and tastes incredibly rich, yeasty, and malty... like a good sourdough right out of the oven.

Bottled. A dark browm coloured beer with a large off white head and lacing. The aroma is a bit cardboardy but there are also bready malty characteristics. The taste is very malty but there’s a very noticeable pasteurization flavour. I guess this is what 80/ ales are intended to be: high on malt but low on hops, although the pasteurization is a modern thing.

Poured from a draught can with a widget. A caramel-copper brown that seemed to be a lighter color at the bottom of the glass. I really liked the look of it. Foamy top that remained in place from start to finish. Mild aroma. Milky in the mouth and swallowed easy. Very tasty.

Bottle: A little disappointing, seemed a little too crisp and clean for an ale. Did have a nice malty flavor but lacked the full hoppy finish. The head on the beer was nice

Pours a brown color with a thin white head. Smell is a light nutty and malty aroma. Taste is very nice it too is nutty but more powerfully so than the aroma leaving a roasted flavor all in the mouth. Hints of wood and earth all over this beer. Very nice and enjoyable.
