jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Mar 17, 2007 LIght caramel in color with a serious off-white head and some good lacing. Aromas of wheat, smoke, and some chalky malts. Sweet at various points on tasting, with a chocolaty finish with some good length on it. Some hop presence, but not much. Dusky, green hops. A little wanting in terms of balance. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Mar 16, 2007 Bottle. Clear red with a big off-white head that settles slowly. A sweetish, a bit roasted, malty aroma.
Flavor is sweet and malty, and ends with some bitterness and smoke. A light body, pretty watery. GiladA (13), Israel Mar 15, 2007 Updated: May 30, 2007nice head, off-white color. the beer has a dark red color - very tempting. smell of flowers, herbs, maybe chocolate. absolutely sweet, good carbonation, very heavy in the mouth. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Mar 13, 2007 Pours a tawny amber color w/ a shallow, beachball spattered froth that just sits there. Aroma has a sourness amidst a malty backdrop. Medium nectar w/ no residual effers. Totally flat yet creamy. Dry and nutty w/ nuances of leathery nuggat. The finish is bittered perfectly w/ a solid hop component. Doctormirk (100), USA Mar 11, 2007 On tap. When the bartender first slid this one my way, I had some serious doubts as to his bar tending competency. The glass appeared to nothing but a huge micro-bubbled head without the slightest hint of liquid beer. However, after about 20 seconds, the monstrosity of a head separated into a pretty good 9:1 beer head ratio. Must be nitro. Thick syrupy mouth feel, nutty and sweet. Somewhat muted. troysworktable (109), Washington, USA Mar 6, 2007 16.9 ounce bottle. This ale pours the color of thickened honey. A nice, thick white head of frothy foam lingers. There is a grassy aroma, with a hint of floral perfume, and a slightly roasted scent.
It had a light, nutty flavor. Perhaps it was even a lightly buttered bread flavor. Medium body. A decent beer.
It accompanied the wife’s barbecued ribs, which were spectacular. These ribs would have boosted the score of most beers, and they did indeed help improve this Scottish Ale.
Canadianlush (169), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA Mar 3, 2007 Pours a nice amber with stubborn head that lasts all the way. Malty, hoppy and pretty thick consistency considering it came out of the can. Finishes short and somewhat bitter. Not bad but nothing to get to excited about here either. Perhaps I’ll re-rate after I try it on tap. thornecb (1737), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Mar 2, 2007 Pours dark amber into a shaker. Off-white micro head with good retention subsides with minor lacing. Malt aromas. Crisp and tingly with front to back caramel. Lasting malt finish.
