WeeHeavySD (2942), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 20, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours dark amber with a light head, with a sweetly malty fragrance. The beer tastes rich with malt, and is drinkable as its alchol content is so damn low. georgekessel (68), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Aug 20, 2006 Nice looking 500ml bottles. Tried it in both the bottle and in a glass. Tastes best in the glass after being allowed to breath for a bit. Temperature really affects the flavor of this tasty ale. bitbucket (2027), Kirkland, Washington, USA Aug 15, 2006 Can with nitro widget. Pours amber with a creamy, lacy, cream-colored head. Tasting this beer after watching the nitro dissapate is like listening to a band that isn’t quite as good as the warmup. Not much in the aroma, and a watery body with non-existent carbonation. Once I got past the nitro foam, the beer is kinda bland, and has a somewhat dusty taste. Not in the same league with their St. Andrew’s Ale. bridge (659), Sydney, Australia Aug 5, 2006 Murky brown with a cream off-white head that didn’t lace. Light smoky islay malt aroma gives way to pork crisps. Some nuttiness at the finish. A little salty, emphasised by the pork crisp aroma, but not much else. Even for the abv it seems a little lacking in depth. Not bad, but it’s a long way behind the wee heavy. masedawg (156), Statesville, North Carolina, USA Jul 31, 2006 Pretty good beer. Sort of bitter for a scottish ale. More hoppy than most. Still worth a try. linc33 (177), Albany, New York, USA Jul 30, 2006 On tap at Olde Dublin Inn, Clifton Park NY. A golden (not pale) colour with a fine head, served on nitro. Surprisingly thin and without flavour - the nitro provided a decent mouthfeel but there was no flavour to back it up. As the pint went on, I detected some caramel hints. Not recommended, especially for what else was on tap. GriffinAvenue (395), Winchester, Massachusetts, USA Jul 29, 2006 Bottle. Thick, lacy head and light malty aroma that gives way to much stronger malty flavor. Surprised to find finnish thinner than expected. Overall, a distinctive beer that undoubtedly claims some rabid devotees. I’m not one of them, but this will play fine. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Jul 18, 2006 Wheres the alcohol. 3.9 %! I am not drinking a low alcohol brew. This is supposed to be a beer that warms you up during the brutal scottish winters. BOOOOOO on this. Ill stick to the Wee Heavy and by that I mean JP Grays.
