Out of the can, this was not an impressive scotch ale. Pours dark brown with an off white head. The aroma is malty, but the taste lacked the malty flavor that I expected. The mouthfeel was thin, and the finish was too bitter. "

This beer has a big beige foamy had. The body is a clear brown. Very standard. very light aromoa, maybe a slight malt, but nothing of substance there. there is no hop flavor, the carbonation is bit more than I like it. The finish is long and malty. an OK beer it would be much better with less carbonation.

Clear copper color with off white head. Medium strength aroma. Smells like a barn full of wet hay. The smell seems to be both the bad and good aromas that would come from a barn. After tasting it and can tell they were shooting for a peaty flavor. What I taste is a bit too much Melanoidin Malts maybe. If it is peated malts then it seems like wet soggy peat rather than smoky. I do pick up on a little bit of sweet caramel malts and not much in the way of hops.

Bottle. Aroma is malty, with noticeable hop notes. Flavor is very malty, with hints of toffe and yeast. Taste is like a lager, but much more prominent. Aftertaste is strongly malty, with a weak hop finish. Slightly watery. Not something I would buy again, but fans of the type of beer would probably like it very much.

12 oz bottle, via porterhouse. Pours a clear dark copper under a craggy two finger beige head. Moderate visible carbonation. Aroma of toasted and nutty maltiness with a little toffee and light smoke. Flavor is dominated by toasted malt up front. The finish is semi-sweet with smoky peaty malt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a softly carbonated creamy texture. Overall, this was better than expected and remembered. It’s nice to revisit an old favorite.

On Nitro Tap at the British Beer Company in Plymouth. Pour of a heavy ruby amber, with a creamed head of off-white. Aroma of faint dusky grains, hints of caramelized sugars and distant barbeque sauce. On the tounge, it has a a good run of smoky toast and some sweet caribbean tang. Mostly a salt grow of oak, but then heavy sugars. Finishes with an indistinct hop dryness. Drinkable.

Bottle. Clear amber, white head. Aroma is pine, caramel and molasses. Flavor is strong pine, but I don’t detect any of the complexity that I expected from the aroma.
