Slipstream (734), USA Jun 8, 2009 Brown pour. Malty aroma with a touch of hops and cheese. Malt and cereal flavor dominates, and there is a touch of roastiness and cheese. Pretty smooth going down, but it could use some more robustness. I used to think this was a first rate Caledonian brew, but not any more. It is pretty good. Stefano (1321), Esbjerg, Denmark May 27, 2009 Pours deep golden colour with a long-lasting head. Bread and toffee were clear in the aroma. Bitter, malty taste with some sweetness. Spicy hops in the finish. Easy to drink beer. osb33 (16), Milwaukee, USA May 19, 2009 A good scottish ale. The head was decent and the color was nice. The aroma wasn’t too sweet nor too bittter. As for the taste, the same can apply. Smooth going down. A good beer, but nothing exceptional. DaveBrewer (9), Florida, USA does not count May 16, 2009 Has a nice overall flavor without being too strong. A mild bitter (to my taste), but not weak or watery. rugbydude05 (280), Kew Gardens, New York, USA May 15, 2009 On tap at Stout in NYC. Pours a pale color with moderate creamy head. Aroma is very light and perhaps a a bit hoppy if anything. Flavor is bitter but not too overpowering. The smooth texture of the beer balances out the bitter very well. Palate was full and smooth. Decent brew, especially for a warmer day. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA May 11, 2009 Another fine beer from Belhaven. A nice nose of toffee, light caramel, with a bit of nuttiness to it. Appearance is a dark brown, cloudy with a nice 1/2" thick head. Flavor is smokey/peaty malts, sweet malts with a touch of brown sugar. Easy to drink and easy to enjoy. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA May 10, 2009 Nitro-tap, served in an English pint glass. This beer poured a clear copper with a one-finger thick head of dense, creamy, off-white foam. Excellent retention and lacing. The aroma included sweet toffee and fruity esters. Mild herbal hops. The flavor was lightly fruity with a decent malty, caramel backbone. Mild bitterness. The mouthfeel was light to medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and creamy. A decent session beer. Plamadude30k (122), Tucson, Arizona, USA May 9, 2009 Pours orange-brown with a little white head. Nose is a little subdued with sweet caramel and apple. Taswte is very clearly caramel and toffee, but I do taste a little apple in there. Carbonation is light. A very sweet beer, lacking in hops.
