Smokey malty aroma. Thin head goes away quickly. Amber medium bodided beer. Malty sweet taste with a hint of smoke. Very good beer!

I was very disappointed with this. The flavor was wimpy - none of that roasted malt flavor some of the better scotch ales have.

Wheres the flavor. Scottish ales should be noticeably malty. Nothing to write home about.

For a Scotish Ale the flavor is somewhat weak.. nonetheless, this is one of my very favorite beers. Maybe it’s the nitrogen but it is so smooth it will have you wishing it came in 6 packs instead of 4. I had it on tap once and it blew me away, out of the can it comes pretty close. The flavor is hard to pin down.. malty?? caramell? You’ll just have to try it for yourself I guess. Highly recomended to fans of Guiness when you’re in the mood for a change.

I’ve only had it from the tap, but it has a very nice malty flavor. Extremely drinkable.

Deep brown color with minimal head. Slight malt and peat aromas. Very smoky flavor combines well with the maltiness you would expect in a Scottish ale. Pleasant, but nothing special

An interesting ale. Dark tawny brown, with medium lacey head. Aroma is mossy, smokey caramel. The flavor is strongly smoked malt, dry and lightly hopped. This is a distinct beer -- **Be ready for the old smoke flavor** -- nothing at all like the supersweet Scottish ales (McEwan’s). Recommended for a hearty meal, especially with game.

Truly a great beer. One of the best ales I have tasted, a bit pricey to buy, but very much worth it.
