the head was thin and faded fast, the nose was very malty, chewy, smells of bread ,carmel, raisens, and toffee, nice flavor leans more toward the sweet side, with enough hops to balance.

Nice malty flavor, but I have had tastier Scottish Ales than this one. About average for its type.

Great beer. Nice roasted nut flavor from start to finish. Very pleasant mouthfeel. Head was a bit weak though.

Very pretty floating widget beer. Gotta love that creamy head. Awful aroma of disinfectant and coal, yet the light peanutty malt and cloying mollasses palate make this more drinkable than the first whiff might suggest. At 3.9%ABV, it could good do with a bit more kick. (Try a depthcharge of Glenfiddoch in it!). Different from other Scotchies Iíve had. Disappointing, but still worth the try. Give this one to the kids. Lolly water.

Way too thin for my tastes. Creamy looking head that diminishes rather quickly. Not impressed at all by this beer and I even had this on tap.

Smokey malty aroma. Thin head goes away quickly. Amber medium bodided beer. Malty sweet taste with a hint of smoke. Very good beer!

I was very disappointed with this. The flavor was wimpy - none of that roasted malt flavor some of the better scotch ales have.

Wheres the flavor. Scottish ales should be noticeably malty. Nothing to write home about.

For a Scotish Ale the flavor is somewhat weak.. nonetheless, this is one of my very favorite beers. Maybe itís the nitrogen but it is so smooth it will have you wishing it came in 6 packs instead of 4. I had it on tap once and it blew me away, out of the can it comes pretty close. The flavor is hard to pin down.. malty?? caramell? Youíll just have to try it for yourself I guess. Highly recomended to fans of Guiness when youíre in the mood for a change.
