My first drink ever at Merlin’s in Mpls on tap. This Beer is almost impossible to find elsewhere.

From 12oz bottle. Pours a pretty reddish amber with a finger of whit head. Mild malt aroma, but stronger in the taste. Not a bad Scottish ale - and I'm generally ambivalent about Scottish ales. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nitro can. Sweet cracker malt with an earthy background. Pours a clear amber with a full, creamy ivory head of small bubbles. Rich and malty. Moderate bitterness. After the mid-palate, there is an off-putting sharp flavor that seems flawed. Thin mouthfeel.

12 oz. bottle at home from backlog notes. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with a thin off white head. The aroma and flavor has caramel, toasted malts, grass, pale malts, nuts with some earthy notes. Light to medium bodied. This is pretty thin and watery. I don’t know that this is a standard Scottish ale.

Bottle. The US version of 5.2 % abv. The beer pours clear amber with a medium off white head. The aroma is malty with toasted caramel and nutty notes. The flavor is high malty with some chocolate caramel notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear, copper with low head. Light aroma of caramel and malts, nothing more. Taste is better, it’s also caramelly furthermore some fruity (dark fruits) and hint of nutty note. Finish is slightly hoppy (spicy and earthy). Low body. High carbonation. Average ale.

Catch-up rating. The beer looks nice with a copper body with a thick creamy head. This has a nice amount of sweet malt and a different sort of fruit smell. The taste is very nice with a strong amount of malt, but it because sort of a chocolate flavor. There is also a good amount of burnt caramel.

Nitro Can. Poured thick and creamy, nitrogen settling to form solid browny-red hue with good thick head. Aroma sweet whiskey with touch of vanilla. Moderate malts but not getting nuttiness or hops it claims. Though thin, it is smooth on palate, no carbonation, but a little airy-light on body (due to nitro?). A little simpler than was expecting.

2/1/14 $5.75 can at CHOW 284 drank at dinner with Dan and nancy. Mouthfeel of a Guinness. Bored me and drank quickly and went for the DFH90 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
